I can't understand why the Cowboys put Crayton on the trading block.

I can understand Hurd, but Crayton's got good hands, runs good routes, is dependable, isn't expensive and most of all, plays the slot position better than anybody on the team. He and Romo are always on the same page. Plus he was one of the NFC's best punt returners last season.

I know money is the thing, but just ditch Roy Williams. I can't stand his ******* smile he flashes whenever he fails to catch a pass, like "I can't believe the season I'm having."

Because he went to the Cowboys and asked for the trade.

we just paid Roy a 9 mill bonus.

We are not cutting him right now.

Get the **** over it.

Money and return value. There is no room for him on the roster. Save some cash and get the best value in return. Same Hurd isn't going to bring much return. Crayton has proved he can play in this league.

We all know it's the money. All we can do is vent because RW is staying put.

Thanks for everything, Patrick. Good luck.

They gave him and his agent permission to look for a trade. If they can't find a taker they most likely take him to camp.

Yeah, just because they honored his request for a trade doesn't mean it was gonna happen.

None of us know what the Cowboys were asking for him.

It could have been high compensation. That would make the odds of any trade unlikely.

But the Cowboys could say they tried.

I wouldn't move him unless it was part of a player-for-player deal that significantly helped the team in a weaker spot.

We did the exact same thing with T.O

Crayton asked for it. I'm sure the Cowboys would love to have Crayton as their 4th or 5th receiver on the depth chart. I just don't think Crayton wants to play that role and rightfully so.

I think it was a courtesy to Crayton to allow him to seek a trade. If no trade materializes, he'll go to camp and be on the roster. And the Cowboys will be glad to have him.

What other experienced receiver would the team have to help develop (or continue to develop) the young guys like Austin, Bryant and Ogletree? Would you want RW to help these guys learn to run precise routes?

True but I think you have to be careful of having a disgrutled player on the roster. I hope If Crayton does stay with us he will continue to work hard and not become a problem if so I'd be more than happy to keep him. I will say once it gets to this stage the chances of him remaning I would think is less than 50%. As for what we may get player for player sounds good but I think we could get a 4th for him

No I expect Ray Sherman to do that.

We did not cut TO immediately after we paid his bonus. We cut him a year after.

Those are "exactly" different

The Cowboys are not going to pay him his current salary to ride the pine as the 4th WR. It's just not cost effective.

I just meant we paid his signing bonus, then cut him the next year and got on the hook for 9 million.

So it's not like we couldn't cut Roy and eat the cap this year if we so choose.

Sunk cost, the money is already gone. Who would help this team more,
Roy or Patrick? That is the only question that matters.

Clearly that decision was already made. The team feels Roy can help this team more.

He's getting 2 mill for 2010. That isn't so much that his salary is going to get him cut.

Would you like to make a Slatemoshpere bet? :laugh1:

And I'm sure he will. But Crayton has the first-person on-field insights and (I hope) advice about opposing players that Ray Sherman doesn't. That's the kind of thing you look to your veterans to help with.
