Patrick Crayton

It's in Rochester, which is between Buffalo and Syracuse NY. More specifically, near the finger lakes. Yes we have maple syrup, a bad Buffalo team, and apples. It's also big wine country.

Rochester checking in here. Don't forget to tell them about the brewery.

You guys must work for the Chamber. ;)

Regarding Crayton, I like him, too, but have read on here that Ogletree had pretty much already beaten him out for 3rd spot on the depth chart before we drafted Dez. If true, now he's 5th. Better for him to try and latch on with another team. Hopefully, we'll get a pick out of it.

Regarding RW11, I see him as a 3.5 mil insurance policy that Dez doesn't get a sense of entitlement by being handed the starting spot before he's even signed his contract. Bad for negotiations and bad for his work ethic - not saying there are work ethic issues, but I'd rather not create any, either. Plus, I don't see them cutting RW11 simply because of the draft picks used to acquire him. Next offseason is a whole different matter, however.

You keep RW11 on the roster this year as the "carrot" in front of Dez. Give the RW11 experiment one more year. See where Ogletree is and act accordingly. Sure, it would be nice to have Crayton as the 4th WR in 2011, but then you have a 32? yr old WR in what is normally the developmental spot when we could have Manuel Johnson, Hudgins, a 2011 draft pick, etc there. Obviously, Crayton is better than either of them right now, but will he be in 3 more years? Hopefully not.

This is not the point, follow the discussion...

You made a stupid argument - own it, don't pretend it wasn't the point.

Crayton is 31.

Dallas doesn't need another developmental wide receiver at this point. Dez is a rookie. While he has talent, he still has a lot to learn about the playbook and the NFL. Olgetree is only in his 2nd year. That is not much different from being a rookie. Crayton can be a good veteran to have on the roster for one more year if he does not become disgruntled. Much better than having a project at this point. In 3 or 4 years, Crayton will be gone, but Dallas will have Austin, Bryant and Ogletree. They can find a young WR to be the 4th or 5th guy in a year or two from now.

That's what I was getting at. I'd really like to keep him through 2010, for sure, but don't know where he'd fit in 2011, when he'd be (I was guessing) 32, assuming that what I'd heard about Ogletree already overtaking him on the depth chart is correct.

My point is that Crayton has been solid for US as a wr for 4 years, nobody else on the wr squad has been nearly as consistent...
