Word is they just don't like him there and will be cut loose -
Every NFL "guy" I've heard talk about this kid - thinks he has a Favre like arm and can not only good but something special.
We need to roll the dice on a guy like this and hope we get lucky - like Green Bay did when they plucked Favre from Atlanta and like the 49ers did when they got Steve Young from Tampa Bay.

Living in DC I've seen this kid a good amount. I just don't think he has what it takes to become a franchise QB.

His biggest attribute is that he is "tough" Who else do we know that is described that way? (hint: he starts for us).

Ramsey really reminds me of Bledsoe. Good arm, but has no mobility or pocket presence. He holds onto the ball untill the last possible second and gets hit a lot.

Wouldn't be much of a upgrade over Bledsoe, other than the fact that he is young.

Corey Chavous should be our #1 FA target IMO.

Ramsey won't be a FA this offseason. He'll be traded. Otherwise, he won't cost a lot of keep on the roster for his final year.

While I liked Ramsey in College, he's shown me little to say that he should be our No. 1 target. Frankly, gulp, I'd go after TO first.

Problem is, Ramsey has a case of Hutchinson's Disease, which means he has ZERO ability to sense pass-rush pressure...

Man...
this is word for word what my response was going to be.
Nice goin aznhalf.

Ramsey = Bledsoe minus the experience and age.

Corey Chavous? Yes.
But our #1 FA should be a Kicker. Longwell IMO.

I have to respectfully disagree.

I remember a game, don't remember if it was a pre-season or opening of the regular season game, against the Jets where the Jets brought the blitz and there was a defender coming from his blind side about to take his head off. When the defender went for the sack, Ramsey ducked while the lineman "whiffed" then Ramsey hit Coles with a strike on a deep pass on the sideline(for a TD I think?).

Now, I may be wrong here. But, I don't think a QB can do things like that without "pocket presence" or the ability to sense pass-rush pressure.

The bottom line is Ramsey would be an upgrade over the other 2 QBs that are currently backing up Bledsoe.

You can't possibly know this for a fact. We haven't seen enough of the two backups because we have Bledsoe.

I'm not sure the implications of the initial post -- Ramsey should be our No. 1 priority as a backup or as a replacement for Bledsoe? As a replacement, I think that's crazy. As a backup, I like the idea, though cannot imagine our top off-season priority being to land a backup quarterback.

He seemed to be developing nicely as a second-year player, but has seemingly regressed since. He's become more accurate in Gibbs' offense, but seems to have become less effective with his decision making in terms of interceptions.

Even a blind hawg finds an acorn every once in a while... consider that Ramsey threw a total of 25 passes this year, and was sacked 4 times... then, consider that he's been sacked 75 times in 33 games... that doesn't sound so bad, until you factor in that in 5 of those games, he threw a total of 29 passes, roughly one game's worth... or looked at another way, he's had 75 sacks and 861 pass attempts in his career, so he's been sacked once for every 11.5 attempts he's gotten off... that's TERRIBLE (though not quite as bad as Hutch's stats in that department)...

aznhalf, that is a very good description of Ramsey......guess I want someone from the draft to lead our team and be our franchise QB....like CUTLER from VANDY!

Ramsey is good for the right price and is a really nice backup. Cannon arm with poor pocket presence and holds on to the ball way too long.

I doubt any QB from the run and get killed Spurior(sp) NFL freak show would be any less shell shocked. That was alot to ask of a young QB.

Not a BAD idea except he really does not have the size to play on the offensive line so he will not be very good at protecting Bledsoe up front!!
