-26th ranked Defense this year... and below average against the run.

-You don't need a great D, you just need a Defense that can get some crucial stops here and there. So long as you have a potent offense (which we have), and you can play with consistency in meaningful, you can get to, and win, a SB.

-Oh, and it doesn't hurt to have arguably the greatest QB of all time behind center, and the best HC..;)

-But honestly, I think if we can just improve our pass rush a bit next season, that would improve our secondary as well, and we'll legitimately have a good enough team to win the Super Bowl.

-Can't wait for next year to get here. I have high expectations, and I'm ready for some redemption. :starspin:

Why have a defense when you can cheat.

A great defense will always beat a great offense. Seattle's defense was not the same as last years and had a lot of in juries. It came down to a defensive play to save the day for New England. Seattle almost won this SB with an average offense and a banged up defense after beating more challenging NFC teams than New England met in the AFC. So I will challenge your assessment and say that if Dallas does not have a top tear defense they will again come close but not be one of next years SB teams.

Who cares about yardage stats?

3 seconds research using browser history:

8th in points allowed
10th in passer rating allowed

Where are you getting 26th? They show 16th most yards allowed.

Oh I saw it on Twittr. Didnt check it's validity. My bad. I created this thread from my phone so didn't check. ANd I've been drinking for about 6 hours now, so don't hold it against me

It also doesn't help that they play in one of the least competitive divisions every single year. Since Brady has become the starter, they have only not won the division twice. One was the year after winning their first SB and the other was a year he got hurt for the season in quarter 1 of week 1. I've never seen a division that has that low of competition for a team. They cakewalk to a division title every single year so that guarantees at least one home game. Makes their road so much easier.

But they do have one thing we don't have on defense and that's a big disruptive DT in Wilfork. He has been there the entire time. He is very crucial to what they do.

Their defense is a step up from ours.

We really have nothing going for ours. I can't remember the last time a team won with one like ours has been the last handful of seasons. I'd say none.

The Cowboys proved you don't need a great defense to beat the Seahawks. You just need a defense that can execute on key plays. The Patriots offence played the game just as the Cowboys did in Seattle... it was a death by a million paper cuts.

I think the key here is "Hall of fame HC" + "Hall of fame QB".

Neither of which the Boys can claim at the moment.

The use of yards allowed is antiquated because the Patriots are a high scoring offense that allows their opponents to get the ball more.

According to FO.com, they were 11th in total defensive efficiency which included 12 in pass defense.

They were also 8th in points allowed and 10th in QB rating allowed.

The problem for the Cowboys is that we are in a far better division and I think when looking at the playoff teams, the Cowboys are in a tougher conference.

I don't think you need a dominating defense either, but you had better be pretty good at stopping the pass and good at not giving up points. I think we have a way to go in that area.

I also think that we need more help in the secondary than with the pass rush.

I don't know about "many" I don't know about you, but I want a better defense next year...
pats secondary is far superior to ours.

Lions game and Seahawks game come immediately to mind. I think there were a couple others that weren't as close that the defense helped finish off the game.

Since we're living in the moment, who needs a running game? Patriots pass 55 times a game and run 5 times.
