Mr. Jastremski would sometimes work out and bulk up — he is a slender guy and his goal was to get to 200 pounds. Mr. McNally is a big fellow and had the opposite goal: to lose weight. “Deflate” was a term they used to refer to losing weight. One can specifically see this use of the term in a Nov. 30, 2014 text from Mr. McNally to Mr. Jastremski: “deflate and give somebody that jacket.” (p. 87). This banter, and Mr. McNally’s goal of losing weight, meant Mr. McNally was the “deflator.” There was nothing complicated or sinister about it. If there was any doubt about the jocular nature of the May 9, 2014 texts, a review of all the texts between these two men that day would dispel it.

So, they not only lie, they also are in the business of insulting our intelligence.

Not a good look, New England. Sleazy even.

Yes I seen that...I think they should get additional penalties for trying to pull that bull.

Found some of these funny...

It seriously would have been more plausible if they'd trotted out that the nickname came from him destroying a bouncy castle.

Tell me again why you suspended those two employees without pay for trying to lose weight, @Patriots

By the #Patriots explanation we can confirm Jared Lorenzen is not a "deflator" in any sense of the word.

Twitter media has been ALL over this Pats defense. Nobody's buying it.

Count me as one who doesn't care about this particular case, but don't spin me BS and expect me to walk in it. lol

I laughed so hard when I read that. Now we know why it took so long....they needed 5 months to come up with something so hilarious.

I mean, whenever I go on a diet, I never say "I'm losing weight".....I always say "I'm deflating". Who doesn't right? :lmao::lmao2:

So if the nickname "Deflator" was in place for the guy trying to lose weight. Then what about the guy trying to gain weight? Where is his nickname? What do people around the facility call him? Wouldn't it coincide with running joke about the one guy trying to lose weight versus the guy trying to gain weight. To me people this is typical human interaction and how it usually goes down. You simply don't have two co-workers in this position stating what the Patriots are stating and only 1 of them has a nickname.....

Totally believable. Has the NFL called a press conference to rescind their punishment and give Kraft that apology?

With today's announcement, the NFL should have an rebuttal announcement.
"We have decided, in the best interest of the NFL, to increase Brady's suspension to 6 games. The fine will be $1.2 million. One 7th round draft pick in 2017will be added to the other picks forfeited."

They're also crying about a sting operation. You know that no innocent group ever worries about being in a sting, because if you're innocent there's nothing to find. I think the Pats are a dirty franchise because they have a HC and a QB that seem to go they haven't punished enough to make them think that the downside is big enough to make it not worth it yet.

You know, I would respect them more if they just came out and said they did it instead of insulting our intelligence that deflate means to lose weight.

Seriously.
