Pats Used Injured Reserve players in Practice?

If the pats actually did this what kind of punishment could they face? if it's true and I suspect it is then I hope they not only lose their first round pick next year but Bill-a-cheat is suspended for a full season...

Ross Tucker, a former offensive lineman who played for five teams in a seven-year NFL career, reiterated Thursday that he believes that New England used players on the injured reserve list in practices, which violates league rules.

Former Patriots video assistant Matt Walsh, in a meeting with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell last week, said that a Patriots player on injured reserve practiced when he wasn't allowed to in 2001. The NFL said it would investigate the claim.

Tucker continued to contend the Patriots used injured players illegally during an interview on ESPN's "NFL Live." He first wrote about it last week on SI.com.

Tucker told "NFL Live" that Patriots coach Bill Belichick will do anything he can "to get an advantage." He also added that using a player on injured reserve in practice was of "minimal" benefit.

Last Friday, in an article published on SI.com, Tucker wrote that: "I had heard the Patriots did this before I signed with them in 2005 and I saw it firsthand during my time there. I asked veteran receiver Troy Brown about it one time and he responded, 'Every team in the league does that.' I quickly let him know none of the three teams I played for previously had done so.

Basically, the Patriots would put a player on IR, knowing it meant he couldn't play in a game or practice with the team for the remainder of the season. By skirting the rules and practicing him anyway, it allowed them to develop his skills during the year. A side benefit is that they were also able to give some of the older players less repetitions and, therefore, additional rest."

Tucker played with Washington, Dallas, Buffalo, New England and Cleveland during his career. He currently writes for SI.com and hosts a show on Sirius satellite radio

Bill Belichick's explanation: "I interpreted the rule as meaning that a violation occurs only where the NFL actually catches us violating the rule. If they don't catch us in the act, it's not a violation. Therefore I proceeded with the practice. Obviously this is just a harmless misinterpretation of the rule."

I really do not understand why Belicheat has not been suspended. The Patriots should also lose another draft pick - maybe a 4th or 5th for this violation.

again, this is how goodell works,

when goodell gets word that belichick his cheating, he sends out a memo warning him, im watching you so stop it,

belicheater then pushes that as much as he can, while showing that either goodell is a goofball for warning belicheater or what they say is true, that kraft and goodell are good buddies, so he lets the patriots get away with murder

so your not going to see anything happen,

but if it was any other team, or coach, goodell would come down hard;

another way to llook at this, we still have pacman that is serving over a years suspension, yet, he hasnt been reinstated, why not?

second, the patriouts and belicheater was given a sentence before goofball ever looked at the tapes, then goofball had them destroyed tapes and notes;

belicheater says i only had these 6 tapes or so, from 2006 on, but when walsh turned in his tapes, he turned in 8 tapes from 2000 to 2003 i think,

now it doesnt take a brain scientist to see that if you had 8 tapes from walsh and 6 or so from belicheater that were turned in, thats 14 tapes or so right there,

then you have those that belicheater didnt turn in, but we all know he had more, so again a big fat lie, and lie to goofballs face,

now when tank johnson, pacman, henry, etc have lied in goofballs face, he has repeated, oh, coaches are to be held more accountable, and i want the player to see that what they did was wrong, and until they do they dont get reinstated, till i deem their worthy,

but did belicheater admit he was wrong, no he lied to goofballs face, and gets away with it, why? seems double standard to me, and other things,

so your not going to see anything done unless senator specter finds some other breaking news, tapes, notes to bust goofball and belicheater

oh by the way, there is a site, called, www.impeachgoodell.com

he won't get punished. Goodell is probably hanging out with Belicheat right now drinking some beer laughing at this thread.

Doesn't surprise me, with all of the fooling around he's been caught doing with the injury reports (a rule had to be made about it)..... no big surprise.

Just like it won't be a surprise when Belicheck doesn't face any consequences for it.

Agreed, but it won't happen to the
Patriots, they seem to be the Darlings of the NFL Offices and ESPN.

I'm thinking the oppsite of everyone I guess, I do agree the pats are the NFL's poster children because of Tom Brady but I also think the NFL is worried about it's image more. So I think if there is any proof at all then I think the pats will get slammed... Just so the NFL can save face... I'd love to see them get baned from post season play next year and lose any first round selection it may gain.

I would caution people to think about whether other teams might survive this scrutiny.

I certainly expect that 'check learned this stuff somewhere. And that suggests some of this sort of stuff may have been going on in Dallas as well.....

Did you read the article?

Nobody is accusing other teams and it does not dismiss the fact they broke another rule.

I know awhile back they said the Patriots used to not let the players wear numbers on their jerseys so they could sneak in a handful more of players into practice.
