Romo wants to make a big play - prefers not to check down.
Garrett loves to throw deep.
The same pattern last night we see time and time again to creating Romo turnovers and Dallas losses.

Simple Plan:
Focus on covering the WR and downfield passes. Don't allow anything deep. A few short ones to witten is ok. I suspect we could have thrown to backs and run the ball all day.

What happens:
1. Romo doesn't have the patience to check down.
2. Garrett will want to throw some bombs even though the D is setup to not allow it.
Result: Ints and loss

Romo is to blame more. But we lose these games (when the D takes away the WRs) because our QB and Offensive Coordinator are not willing to play conservative, smart, ball control offense. It has happened for 3 years now.

Yes, I agree. THIS IS THE TRUTH! That was the Giants plan. They stuck with it and came out on top.

I too have to agree

the staple of this O is the big pass play

and it's either a big play for us, or a big play for the opposing team

and for the love all that is holy, ditch the outside corner route!!

Witten : 5 for 33

Barber : 2 for 33

Bennett : 1 for 11

Choice : 1 for 3

Nope never happens.

How many times do we see multiple defenders in the area too when that pass is thrown?

People like you who want to put the blame squarely on the shoulders of Romo and Garrett are laughable.

As always, we lost as a team, stop trying to find one scapegoat.

What irony, considering the reason why a lot of fans wanted to run Parcells out of town was because he wanted to run this kind of conservative offense. Not that I disagree with you, as I think Romo/Garrett's impatience in the passing game are their biggest weakness. I suspect if Parcells were still around he would do a better job of keeping Romo on a leash than Wade has when he goes "off the reservation" like he did last night.

That Parcells kind of offense would work with the personnel we have in place now. Heck, for that matter, a Minnesota type of offense would work with our current personnel.

If Tony Sparano is our head coach right now, we would be 2-0. Jerry should have never let him go.

....and yet Belichek's gameplan to beat us was to double team Witten.

Im sorry but our offense is pretty good and the formations we are running are awesome too.

I wouldn't change what we are doing.

We just need to make smarter decisions with the ball and not get careless.

The area where Romo got picked by Kenny Phillips is an area that this team has hit a lot of big plays from more times than not.

The more I think about this game the more it looks like a real coaching disaster. If they are keeping most of their guys back in pass defense, we need to keep running the ball until we get them leaning back towards the line of scrimmage. Forget about a balanced offense and take what they are giving us.

Sorry, but it'll have to be more than 1 game to be a "pattern"

Romo had a bad game. He threw two stupid balls and was lazy with mechanics on another.

And quit with the blaming the coordinator on this "he wont play smart, conservative ball control offense"

If Romo doesnt throw those ridiculous picks the other night, we dont lose, period, end of story. He's the one who decides where the ball goes on each pass play. Plays have primary and secondary targets, but its the QB's job to ultimately decide where the ball goes. Every play does not have 5 guys running 40 or so yds down the field and turning around, as some of you want to believe.

That "ability to read a defense" stuff, there's something to it.

It's what the Negative Nancy's do best, though.
