Patty Duke Dead at 69...

Patty Duke, the actress who won an Academy Award as a teenager for "The Miracle Worker" and went on to enjoy a long and successful career, died Tuesday morning. She was 69. Mitchell Stubbs, one of Duke’s representatives, confirmed the death. “Anna ‘Patty Duke’ Pearce passed away this morning March 29, 2016 at 1:20 a.m.,” Stubbs’ statement reads. “Her cause of death was sepsis from a ruptured intestine. She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, a mental healt advocate and a cultural icon. She will be missed.”

i remember watching the miracle worker when i was in high school. she was just wonderful. i also admired her for bringing attention to mental illness & talking about how it affected her. may she rest in peace.

She was an acting talent with enormous range, winning an Oscar as a teenager. Who knows how many other great roles were impacted or never realized because of her illness? Rest in peace, Mrs. Duke.

My step mother died last month the same way. So many actors are passing away that I grew up watching. Very sad to hear the news of her passing.
