I think he is at least as good as Spencer and would have cost about 9-10 annually. I actually think he might be better than Spencer eventually. I really hope Spencer does not cost anything close to him.

Buddy, the thing is you know 100% with the franchise tag, Anthony Spencer is staying here. The Cowboys would have had to get in a bidding war for Krueger, plus right now with the tag, Spencer isn't affecting future $ when it comes to extending players like Romo/Dez/Lee/Carter. So you put a band-aid at the DE position for at least a year & get to concentrate on S/DT/OG/RT maybe unless they are successful with the Parnell project.

He's started a whopping 7 games in four years. Still hasn't hit double digits with 9 last season. Do you feel lucky? Because that would be a gamble.

Read speculation he would get in the 9 mill a year range. I'd rather draft his brother in the 6th.

Actually, no. There's a fair chance that now that he's franchised, Dallas could work a trade.

Regardless though why would you gamble and possibly miss out on a inferior player in Krueger over franchising Spencer? It makes no sense.

Not gonna happen

Can I get the numbers to the Powerball lottery while you're at it? 100% is pretty certain. You must have amazing powers.

Watch the Super Bowl. Look to see who plays more against the run. You'll notice Upshaw in there a lot more than Kruger. Although Kruger can push the pocket, he isn't near the solid complete player Spencer is.

I would love to get a 2 for him, as it would go a long way to building this team into a contender year in year out, but I don't believe we will get that type of offer, that's why I typed not gonna happen.

agreed. kruger is solely a rusher. doesn't offer much in the run game

I can't imagine paying Kruger 9mil a year is smarter than franchising spencer at this point. If Kruger hits the market then we have to overpay and it would be long term.

Franchising Spencer gives us 1 year of premium pay, and tons of flexibility to make other moves short term and long term.

I think he is going to end up a second maybe third round guy.

People on this board don't like Spencer because he's "only had one good year."

I looked up the phrase "one good year" in the dictionary. Staring at me was a picture of Paul Kruger

while that is funny and true (as in no way do i recommend signing krueger to a long-term deal)

but the only reason they had kreuger's picture there (instead of spencer) was because they have had spencer's picture under the phrase "no good years" for a long time and hadnt moved it over yet

actually spencer has played very good the last 3 years. it's just that fans only read the sack stats. maybe look at pressures and takles which spencer had more in each of the last 4 years than krugar has in his whole career

Right.

You can debate whether being a great run stuffer throughout his career is or is not evidence of a good performance.

But you simply cannot be making any sort of rational evaluation if you don't think 2009 was an awesome year. Passes defended, huge sacks late in the season, forced fumbles, a giant, game ending interception. He even hit Favre so hard in our playoff loss that Favre admitted to having half his body covered in a giant bruise that limited him in the NO game the following week.

can you remind me when the last time is that spencer started in the NFL as a DE?

for how many games in the NFL?

because that is the position he will be playing full time and be paid like a premier DE

i will wait for your answer
