Paul Walker dead at 40: 'Fast and Furious' star killed in fiery car crash

“Him and his buddy, his brother in arms at heart just decided to joyride, take a spin. Something we all do. We’re all car enthusiasts. … We’re all here driving, enjoying each other, and God must’ve needed help,” Antonio Holmes, who said he was a friend of Paul, told the Santa Clarita Valley Signal. “We all heard from our location (the accident). It’s a little difficult to know what it was. Someone called it in and said it was a vehicle fire. We all ran around and jumped in cars and grabbed fire extinguishers and immediately went to the vehicle. It was engulfed in flames. There was nothing. They were trapped. Employees, friends of the shop. We tried. We tried. We went through fire extinguishers.”

“When we saw Paul and Roger leave, Paul was the passenger in the vehicle. They both were experienced drivers. This was just a tragic accident that happened on a joyride,” another eyewitness said.

Sure hope they died on impact, burning alive would be a horrible way to go

All roads are blocked off just drove by hundreds of people there. Our town is now kinda big but it's a small community. Just another bad car crash here in the SCV. The sheriffs and city planners need to do a better job of road designs here. I've lived here my whole life and have lots of friends to accidents in this town.

What is speed limit there? From looks of that wreckage it seems to me the car was going pretty fast. I'm not sure how road designs would help there if they where going faster than the roads were designed for.

Paul Walker Died Alongside Former Racer Roger Rodas



Roger was the CEO of the company Always Evolving, a car customization shop. The charity event for Reach Out Worldwide was being held at the company’s headquarters in Santa Clarita that afternoon when he went for a drive with Paul in a Porsche Carrera GT, which happens to be one of Roger‘s favorite cars. Both of them died in the crash after the car exploded into flames.

The friends had met when they raced cars together at the Pirelli World Challenge series years ago.

Trying to do a good thing and this is what happened, how sad.

If he was driving, this would have never happened.

RIP Paul Walker.. take the fast track all the way to heaven.

Just an FYI. The person driving was Roger Rodas. He wasn't exactly unaccustomed to being behind a steering wheel at high speeds.

the road they were speeding on his not a high traffic road at all. The road is a bit dangerous as there is a down hill turn.

It's been the talk of the town for the past couple days, I live up the street from that walmart and while I've been at school my friends have sent me pictures of the memorial and such. Always been a big fan of Paul, R.I.P.

What a shame, I believe I read the car was traveling 130 mph

Reports are the steering pump malfunctioned and caused the car to lose control and that the fire started in the front of the car and not the rear. The area where the car crashed would be hard to get up to crazy top speed because there is a sharp turn right after.
