Well-- people weren't complaining about his coaching last year at 13-3 or in the 12-4 season either. Look-- I'm not saying he is a great HC. I am saying that the ball control offense he utilizes has won and can win in this league.

We need to play with a lead and run effectively to not expose our D.

Just pointing out that you used the Giants team getting hot at the end of the year and made SB runs as some sort of template here..

But there is a pretty wide chasm between those teams and what we have - coaches.

We shouldn’t want this team to peak ... we need a disaster of a season with very few injuries ... that’s the only way I see this CFL coaching staff getting replaced...

The last two games should have been wins. This team should be at 4-1 if we had been able to muster more consistency on defense.

The good news is that Dak looks good, the running game is showing signs of life, and the pass rush is actually proving itself to be a strength of the defense.

2-3 is far from ideal. But it is also far from being a season killer. The bye week is coming at a perfect time in my opinion. We can get healthy, work out the kinks and get ready for the stretch run. We have all witnessed two 9-7 NYG squads winning the super bowl simply because they got hot down the stretch.

IMO-- This Dallas team still has the potential to be dangerous this year: Good running game, smart QB play, and a possession offense that can protect our defense.

No sugar-coating the situation on defense. But my hope is that Lee and Hitchens calm things down in the middle, and the young pups get better with experience and we start seeing some more plays being made on the back end.

No team is perfect and this young team has been humbled and hobbled. Will be interesting to see how they respond after the bye. Would love for Dak to go to GB in the playoffs and beat Rodgers and flip the script.

Couldn't agree more. It really sucks to be 2-3, but it's not the end of the world or the season. We can still definitely get hot and go on a run. The ingredients are there.

How is anything "obvious" with the way this team is playing?

We pulled out a win against the same Cardinals team that the Eagles throttled.

We lost to the same Rams team that the Commanders beat.

Based on common opponents, what looks "obvious" is that the other teams are playing better football.

My point is there is no juggernaut in the division and we still have a good chance.

You never know. Teams turn thier seasons around every year. We all knew the secondary would need time to gel and our LBS production is well below what they are capable of. Lee and Hitchens both back there should help tremendously. Our pass rush is soooo much better than advertised. MAYBE with a little luck we can pull ourselves together and win some games.

I see zero reason to piss and moan and cry about how we have no chance. Its not a fun approach at all for this fan. So whether or not a little faith is warranted Im choosing to believe this team can still put it together. Good luck to those of you that have packed it in already. I guess worst case scenario yall get to be right and make fun of those that didnt prematurely hang thier heads.

I'm certainly a card carrying homer, but in the 24 hours after this loss I was more frustrated than at any point this season, and was fairly certain the season was over.

I've mellowed slightly, and I agree with @xwalker that this was their best game this season (looked good against Giants but we now know they are an even more incomplete team than the Cowboys). I think if the team can play at Sunday's level, we can reel off some wins after the bye. This defense needs to generate some turnovers for that to happen, because they aren't going to mesh into some dominant force anytime soon. I hope to see some personnel adjustments over the bye, but I'm not holding my breath.

That said, the math is upside down and with a 1st division schedule, 8-3 is a tough ask. I don't think 9-7 makes the tourney.
If they can beat the Eagles twice, then I think they win the division.

That's not true. Plenty were complaining, especially about the defensive mentality to bend and not break. I've said it since we adopted that scheme - this defense requires either the QB or the WR to make a mistake. That works against weaker QBs or during the regualr season if a player isn't and on point, but in the playoffs when the best are at their best, this defense has no chance of making a stop when it really counts.

How about this: Cowboys make the playoffs-- you make a very public eat crow thread. Cowboys miss the playoffs-- I do. You game?

That's way too rich for my blood.

It's just football, for crying out loud.

We were #1 against the run last year, and we were near the top of the league in defensive red zone efficiency. Where we SUCKED and everyone was complaining was our pass rush and lack of turnovers.

Again-- I am not defending the coaching staff and saying they are elite. Just stating that the overall strategy they are employing has worked 2 out the past 3 years (the one it didn't we lost Romo for the year).

I think Dallas takes theee of four vs. Philly and Washington barring major injuries.

If this happens they have a shot, particularly if it's Philly and I like how they match up.
