Time to debate these two great bands. When STP first came out with Plush, they were dubbed as Pearl Jam rip offs. After selling 40 million records, they finally got the respect they deserved. But do they measure up to Pearl Jam?

I love both bands, but give the edge to Pearl Jam. How about you?

Here's my favorite PJ song:

BOTH!

Seriously, you can't answer this question. It's like asking, which is better, bacon or steak?

I was never the biggest Pearl Jam fan. Don't hate them, just not a big fan of them.

Always liked Soundgarden and AIC better.

So I will go with STP

Oh by the way, don't know if many remember but STP originally came out with this song before the others hit big and this song does not sound like Pearl Jam...

Not a big fan of either band. Both got so overplayed on the radio it really turned me off.

I could listen to the first couple of STP albums non-stop. Pearl Jam is good but I never liked every song on an album like I did with STP.

I liked some Pearl Jam, but the singer while sounding some what good, would mumble all the time.

I will go with STP.

I think Weiland had a better voice and the instrumental parts for STP were better. But Pearl Jam's instrumentals were very good and I think the lyrics were far better.

STP's lyrics usually were more or less spitballing of ideas. Pearl Jam was much more lyrically beautiful and deep.

I don't think PJ could execute something like 'Sour Girl' anywhere near as well. But STP just couldn't write anything like 'Even Flow', 'Animal', 'Dissident', etc.

Same genre, but two very different bands and it kinda depends what you like. I can appreciate STP's execution, but I'm more of a PJ guy.

Either way, good to remember the days when I actually loved music and music is worth a damn. I really pity the kids of today.

I thought 10 was a great album but I've hated everything of Pearl Jams since then. I like STP a lot. They would get the nod from me but like was mentioned by others Alice in Chains was the grunge king for me.

I did really like the Temple of the Dog album.
