Penalties!

I can agree with that statement, because I feel that a lot of our players are overrated. But some of our players leave here and play fairly well under different coaches. For example, Roy Williams is currently playing very well for the Cincinnati Bengals, coached of course by Zimmer.

Well, there you go. I guess we agree then. Maybe its the culture in Dallas something to do with it too. I.e. Jerry Jones and the setup he has here.

Maybe its the players not respecting the coach enough. I am not sure, but something is wrong up Dallas. Just like Oakland, no matter the coach, last few years, this team has been a stupid team at the wrong times quite often.

I just glanced over some of the responses and may have missed a similar comment but for pete's sake could they bench Flozell for a series. The last few years our starters have had virtually no fear of losing their playing time unless it was for an injury. Sit Adams down after he has a couple of penalties and let him either get pissed and step up his play or sulk like a baby. Im tired of pampering some of these guys and their repeated mental errors.

No one should feel they are guaranteed playing time just by showing up. Starting Austin next game would probably produce better results and would be a sign to the team that playing time is based on results not seniority.

I doubt Austin wont start next game. If anything Crayton earned permanent benching barring injuries. Its not just the bad game, but his constant mouthing of O gameplan etc. and taking shots at Garrett.

But Austin doesn't start next game, fans will boo for sure, since its a home game. Like I said though, I doubt Wade or Garrett are that dumb to not start Austin next game.

He clearly is the only WR that can be threat to a Defense right now, i.e. deep threat on any play. Like Jerry said, he might be like TO in that matter, except maybe he has better hands, not withstanding couple of drops in the endzone.

I just don't know how effective that would be,even if Free were to be adequate in his substitution of Adams for a series or two.I think or atleast I would like to think that penalties are fixed in practice.If he screws up in practice you make him pay for it with some physical torture.Heck for that matter if an offensive lineman screws up in team drills the whole offense should do some running.I know with the amount of money these guys make now days combined with the players union a coach is pretty much powerless to make a difference by implementing fines.But I will agree something has to be done to somehow limit the penalties because this team will not be able to compete against better competition with 13 penalty games.

the flags that get me are the offsides on the defense. For the most part its guys just lining up over the ball. there's nothing the coaches can do about that, that is just inexcusably lazy/inattentive play by the players.

It would be worth a look to see how a player would react to being benched for a series.Most likely it would be effective on some and have no effect on others.I like the practice session idea because it doesn't take long for your teammates to harp on your mistakes because they're running for something you did.Regardless of the technique,the penalties need to be headed off at the pass.
