People need to stop knocking Aaron Glenn

We can do better.

I love posts like this that state without a doubt that "We could do better", but never provide the information about who and how they would be acquired.

Glenn is a good player and we are lucky to have him.

There is just no way in hell he should be matched up against Roy Williams....ever. Pure insanity from a coaching standpoint.

I would like to know what nickel corners in the league you would take over Glenn. You would use statistics to make that determination?

HeavyHitta is right. People do need to lay off of him because we are fortunate to have a third cornerback of his caliber. Not many teams can boast that. He did an excellent job filling in for Henry last year and if he had to start immediately, we would have little drop off.
I'd have to study the other corners, before I'd make any selections, of course.

What I do know is that many people here have overrated his play.

The point is, no CB in the league can stop a strong 6'2" receiver if the refs are going to let him throw players out of his way.

I think, according to KC Joyner's stop metric last year, Glenn finished 3rd, and Newman finished 5th. Neither is playing as well this year, though.

I don't overrate it at all. He's our third corner for a reason. The longer he starts the less effective he is.

But he is perhaps the best third corner in the conference if not the league. Any time your third cornerback could start if necessary and you get little dropoff, you are pretty fortunate.

He is not a shutdown cornerback because of his size, can be beaten on jump balls and he has lost a step. But I challenge anyone to find a veteran third cornerback who is just as sound and reliable. There are a few teams who have rookies in that role that are very good, but by and large, he's the best among the veterans.

This is easily the hardest position to rank players. Interceptions and TDs given up are big. But I'd like to see passes given up on 3rd down, if they even keep that statistic.

He ranked highly in Joyner's success percentage category, but that is a bit subjective and causes some strange results in rankings (i.e., completion percentages against receivers are out of whack with success percentage).

Glenn plays way too far of his receivers. Apparently he's being doing it this year because he's been getting burned deep. The problem is that on a 3rd and 8, when you're playing 10 yards off the receiver, and Bradie James is completely inept, it almost guarantees a slant for a first down.

Glenn is solid and anybody who thinks otherwise is out of it.

I'm glad somebody mentioned the BLATANT pass interference. I was at the game and the whole stadium couldn't believe it wasn't called. I honestly believe the ref was daydreaming because he took a long time to signal TD after the catch. I think the first one was out, too.

If that's called, they have to make a long field goal to end the half instead. Big swing, just like the first play of the game.

Glenn shouldnt have been locked up 1 on 1 with Roy Williams.

Blame the coaching and the play in place.

I don't understand why we just don't assign Newman to each teams top receivers. Does it really matter if these guys play left or right? It's the freaken Pro's. Produce or be reduced dangit!!!:bang2:

I am with you.

Let each teams' #1 beat Newman if they can.

I'm getting tired of seeing glenn lined up against other team's number one receivers. The coaches say they don't switch sides with the corners but newman is always going in the slot now. I think glenn should cover the slot receiver unless the other teams number one moves into the slot. If newman is as good as we think he is, then he should always be lined up against the best receiver

Glenn is too small to play a lot of the bigger receivers that he has to face on the outside. I couldn't believe my eyes when i saw him one on one with roy williams in the endzone going for a jump ball. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

Ask Santana Moss just how good Glenn is.

Here's a nice pic of the Tight Coverage Glenn has on Santana Moss

Yeah, that was such horrible coverage that Glenn was about 3 inches from winning the game right there

Wanna see the first one? It was 1 minute earlier.

Nice of you to exclude the video....

Roy clearly just misses the ball

Before you go any further, you should know that the first TD was given up by Roy per the official stats from that night
