Steve Smith had 3 this week.

1 was on a 3rd down which would have converted.

1 was picked off, he deflected it and Wilson picked it.

What about Witten's drop in the endzone this weekend.

So yeah, I agree, it happens to everyone.

So because holt had 1/4 of his drops in one game we are supposed to excuse the fact that 1/4 of TOs drops came on what would have been TDs, spread out across the entire season.......HA.....

Yeah, I get the point.....my point was.....hes comparing apples and oranges. Having a bad game where you up your drop total by almost 60 percent is one thing......Consistantly dropping balls that are as on target as they could possibly be is another.

His point being that by many Holt is considered probably the most complete receiver in the game. He doesn't put up the best stats like a harrison, wayne, or Johnson but he is the best all round wideout

The question is not every pass that hits your hands is a drop. I think drops are calculated by whether the ball is catchable. While TO has had "key" drops the only real one of consequence was the washington one. How many of his drops happened after he broke his hand in the first washington game and the 2 games following when he was probably still in some considerable pain.

how does 4 drops equal 60 percent? might want to take out your calculator. but my point was that everybody drops passes, tonight tori dropped what would have been 2 td's.

now add them 2 td's to the score? would u say tori cost them the game?

I'll just say this. There are bad drops, and there are excusable drops...but they both count as drops.

TO has had more bad drops than anybody in the league.
I still love him. I think he'll pull it together and be a big reason
we run the table the rest of the way.

True!

It just happens to Owens more than anyone else in the entire league.

It's 12 drops, btw, not 11.

His drops ARE part of the game. They've haven't bothered me much at all. Not like his poor route running, "not being into it" as he admitted/bragged on tv last week, and alligator arms have.

The drops are one of his positives compared to the rest of the equation.

Tory Holt doesn't play for the Cowboys.
Tory Holt doesn't call out his teammates.
Tory Holt doesn't pout when a game is in question and not nearly finished.
Tory Holt hasn't been ridden out of every town he's been in as a malcontent.
Tory Holt doesn't take an interview during a four game winning streak and whine about the team...

Anything else?
Focusing on and defending one of TO's faults doesn't discount that he's not nearly lived up to his own billing or the money he's getting paid.

You'd be a very busy man if you tried to defend him thoroughly.

Why? Last time I checked Holt plays for the Rams and I don't care how the Rams do. TO just like any of our guys needs to make the plays when it comes their way what some other player on another team does really is not a concern.

I try to defend any Cowboy player when I think he is getting undue criticism.

Like some jumping on Watkins, ... he is a rookie, give him time.

Or some criticizing Roy as a safety, ... watch other safeties, they aren't corners for a reason, when compared to all safeties he is one of the best.

I took up for Bledsoe, other than his mobility, which ultimately did him in.

I take up for Owens too for the most part. He gets more undue criticism than anybody I have ever seen.

So I will take up for him now when it comes to drops, at least what some are calling drops.

If he is recorded as having 12 drops, I say only about 7 are truely what I consider drops. I think 2-3 are from the two games that he played with a broken bone in his hand. ( I have had a broken bone in my hand so I understand not catching every football thrown at me )
And I know of 2-3 more that have been considered drops that were bad passes, and not drops at all. But it's TO, so he dropped it.

So that leaves around 7 or so drops.

But yet some have to bring up drops every other post and throw in little snide remarks about him dropping so many passes.

Every football player drops passes, it is part of the game, and if you are fair and objective, he has dropped 7, maybe 8. Not bad when you consider he has a lot of catches too.

And lately the term alligator arms is being thrown around, where did that come from ?

The guy is a real good WR and we are fortunate to have him on one side and TG on the other.

If the people that don't like him, (and you know who you are) continue to bash every single thing he does, then your agenda is obvious, and your posts aren't being taken seriously.

If you want to be heard, give him credit for what he does right, and then find fault for things he does wrong that are actually substantial, ... not his expression on his face that the TV showed for 3 seconds while he sat alone on the bench. If he had been smiling and yucking it up after that score some of you would have found fault in that.

Try to at least be objective in your unrelenting bashing.

I have said many times it's not so much that he drops passes it's when he drops them. The 4th down and the td in Wash come to mind. If he makes those plays we have a chance to win those games. Is it all his fault of course not.

I agree the drops that concern me are those in critical situation like the skins game and the game against the Giants. I'm not blaming him for any of our losses but when a guy demands the football and the limelight as TO does then I expect him to make the plays. I understand all players drop passes from time to time but playmakers make the plays when their teams need it the most.
