I don't know the number, but shouldn't an assessment of dropitis be based on number of balls thrown?

TO has a ton of balls thrown his way. Fair to say he gets the most passes thrown I'm pretty sure. Anyone know the percentage and where he ranks?

True!

It just happens to Owens more than anyone else in the entire league.

It's 12 drops, btw, not 11.

http://sports.iwon.com/nfl/stats/league/passesdropped.html

His drops ARE part of the game. They've haven't bothered me much at all. Not like his poor route running, "not being into it" as he admitted/bragged on tv last week, and alligator arms have.

The drops are one of his positives compared to the rest of the equation.

But don't forget. Someone we know has a metal plate with screws in on of his metacarpals. And... as screwy as he can be, he'll play hurt unlike others.

I rest my case !!

We have played in 13 games and everyone keeps talking about 2, ... 2, ... TWO, passes, ... that is hilarious to me and obviously agenda driven. TWO dropped passes !?!?!

The one against the skins happened in the 3rd qtr, so even though most of us feel it would have won the game, nobody knows that for sure since we all painfully remember just last season when the skins scored twice on us in the last minutes of the 4th qtr.

And the one in the Giants game was on about the 35 yd line or so. There is no guarantee that we would have even scored a FG from there had he caught it.

If you want people to hear you go on and on about Owens and his "drop" issue, then call out every player that gets a penalty, or misses a block, or misses a tackle, or blows an assignment, or throws a bad pass, or makes a bad read, or others that drop a pass.

IF you do that, then your opinion means more and it doesn't just look like you are picking on a player that you didn't want here in the first place.

just now they said Tory holt had 7 drops on the season, and 4 tonight, so thats 11 for the season for him. think about this before u start complaining about TO just to have a reason to complain about him

Sorry L.M. but Owens gets paid the 'big bucks' to catch the football...but he leads the league in droped balls. All that talk & hype and for what ?

Those were only 2 examples but he has killed drives with drops as well some have not cost us in the end. I would also add that our other weapons do the job without all the BS that TO brings like the dumd ars interview during crunch time of our season like any team really needs some idiot talking about not trusting or being unhappy. Please continue to defend Mr Over rated

I never defended the interview, some things I agreed with and others I didn't.
But I don't think it mattered a hill of beans to the team.

I was referring to drops, which was the title of this thread.

You are verifying everything that I said earlier, ... let's say he has 8 legit drops, and 4 actually killed drives. (I don't know that for sure)

4 drives in 13 games ??

Why are we even talking about that ?

Because its about TO. Leading the league in drops- WRONG. That is an absolute number, not based on how many passes are thrown at the player.
If a guy drops 7 while being thrown 50, that is bad. BUT if he drops 7 while being thrown 100, that is pretty good. TO has had just about that many thrown in his direction.

I don't agree with your assesment the drops he has are legit you may not want to count them but I have watched the game and this ideal that because you feel the drops were not really drops does not change anything. Bottom line I expect playmakers to make big plays and TO does not do that. In critical situation Dallas has gone to Witten and Glenn for those big plays. At least they can be counted on to do the job which is more than I can say about Mr. Over rated

Ok, when the ball does not even touch the players hands, or if he has to jump as high as he can to even touch the ball, you continue to call that a drop, .. that does support your opinion.

I will be objective and call a drop a drop, no matter who it is, and a bad pass a bad pass.
I will also give a guy a pass, no matter who it is, if he played two games with a broken bone in his hand.

Oh, and did Witten not drop a TD pass against the Saints ??

See ? It happens.

A drop is a ball that hits the player in the hands- or he gets both hands on- and does not catch it. Or hits him in the chest going through his hands. THOSE are drops.

That has not been the case, I have watched him pull up on slants and not reach out for the ball and I have seen him flat out drop a lot of passes this year. This coming for a guy who is suppose to be a top WR? sorry he is not playing like a top WR in this league and I can think of several others I would take over this over rated idiot that you continue to make excuses for and look the other way. As for Witten yes he did drop a pass that should have been caught and needs to make that catch.

I know you have, but most others know that if the pass is thrown so far behind him that when he slows down and reaches down around his ankles but does not catch it, that is a bad pass, not a drop. Unless someone wants that to be a drop.

I can think of two like that just in the TB and Colts games. And one other just like it to TG, which he didn't catch either.

I am not making excuses for anyone, nor am I looking the other way. I call him on passes he drops, but only the passes that he drops, the same as I do for every Cowboy player.

how does 4 drops equal 60 percent? might want to take out your calculator. but my point was that everybody drops passes, tonight tori dropped what would have been 2 td's.

now add them 2 td's to the score? would u say tori cost them the game?

He had 7....He dropped 4

4 of 7 is 57 percent.

I may have phrased that wrong. I should have said matched 60% in one game but my point is clear. He had A, single, one bad game. TOs has dropped ball consistantly all season.

How can you say that ? Even if you say he has 12 drops, (which I don't buy) that is not even 1 a game.

When I read posts like this, all I see is, "I don't like TO", ... "I don't like TO"

I can say that cause I have watched the games.....

I really don't know how you can say that he hasn't.

I guess I just expected him to perform up to his contract and at least half as well as what he tells everyone he can. Can you honestly say that Owens hasn't dropped passes all year?

And I don't hate TO. I didn't want him to go to Dallas but I have been impressed with his behavior. Its better then I expected. In fact, I would love nothing more then for Owens to be able to hang on to the ball. That would be nice to see him to that....don't ya think?

I suppose you buy into the whole "my teammates make me unhappy so I drop balls" routine. :laugh2:

I have seen 7, maybe 8 that I consider drops, so yes, I can say he hasn't consistently dropped passes all year.

Has he dropped some ? Yes, it is part of the game, any player who has ever played has dropped some passes.

Has he dropped 12, like the stats indicate ? No, unless you call bad passes drops.

For you to say he has consistently dropped passes all year to me is easy to say, but hard to back up.

Witten was called out by Parcells at the beginning of the season for dropping passes, he dropped a TD against the Saints.

But yet he is not the topic of a "dropped passes" thread.

You have to be fair and balanced throughout the lineup if you want to make a valid point.
