Since Parcells got here, here are the players we have acquired that will be very good for the long term:

Terence Newman
Anthony Henry
Demarcus Ware
Chris Canty
Marcus Spears
Julius Jones
Marion Barber
Jason Witten
Patrick Crayton

And thats just the guys we know right now will help us for a very long time to come. He has taken this franchise form nothing to a team with a future.

Granted, we have some decent talent, and he has improved the team. But he's in season three, and we're on the brink of missing the playoffs.

I guess we can look to see what he does in his last year of his contract. It's Super Bowl or bust next year.

Not a single one of those guys is what I would call a playmaker- maybe Witten if they would use him, but in his present state-nope.

and this is his toughest job -- there was so little of value when he got here. now we are a team that is a year away. that's not a bad job. that's a good job.

Don't be silly, he lost to the Commanders twice, which Campo and Gailey never did so by definition he is a worse coach

Outside of TNew I don't see a single player who is likely to be an impact type player. I see a bunch of good players, one of whom should make a few Pro Bowls (Witten). The others - it remains to be seen. I don't think we're substantially better off than most teams in the league in this regard.

We are more than a year away from being a SB contender.

Newman has been darn good...but how would Leftwich look as our QB?
Ware, Canty, Spears are all part of a front seven who have been blown off the ball vs the run for a month...and who have generated next to nothing for a pass rush over the same time frame.
JJ and Barber...I like both.
Witten..super player.
Crayton. Let's see if he can step up his game to a point where he is more than a 3rd WR.
It's way too early to tell on some of these guys.

I don't have as much of a problem with Parcells evaluating and selecting players as I do with the way he coaches them.

I agree with you on this. After this year Parcells will really improve the OL and we will be very good next year.

If BP also gets a good 3-4 DC in here then we will see that Spears and Ware and many others on our D have top talent.

Same as he looks for the Jags now. Injured.

In all honesty, you can't say that at all. He may have been perfectly healthy or he may have been killed playing behind our OL.

However, the negatives about Leftwich around draft time were his injury history, slow delivery and lack of foot speed.

The issue has been that he has tried and failed.

3 first day draft picks (Johnson, Rogers, Peterman) have not given us one quality player.

3 FAs brought in have yielded us two failures (Rivera, Young) and one inconsistent, lazy fellow (Flo) who now has to rehab an ACL.

2 OL coaches have failed to put out a coherent unit.

Lastly, about $15M/year spent on the starters to generate one of the worst OL in the league.

BP has tried - he has failed.

Aren't the Giants and Seahawks contenders for the Super Bowl? From the three games we've played against them, there's not a whole lot separating us from them -- certainly not more than what we could add next offseason. And last season, neither of those teams was any closer to being a Super Bowl contender than we are right now.

I like the drafting for the most part...

However, the question isn't whether he's brought in good players, it's whether he has been better than other coaches would have been with the same draft picks. It looks like Lovie Smith has turned around Chicago. Has the legendary Bill Parcells done better than him? Or John Fox? Or Tony Dungy? Or <gulp> Joe Gibbs?

i agree that parcells has brought in some good talent this season ,and the next off season i'm sure he will land some more talent that will make us true sb contenders. if you go back before the season begain , most here that are complaing about parcells predicted 7-9 to 10-6 record for the season , so ican't understand the problems with parcells

Someone will have to go the archives but I was one of the most pessimistic people and I predicted 9-7.

Frankly-Parcells needs to revamp his coaching staff.

I wouldn't exactly call the guy a dictator-but you can't help but feel sorry for him 'cuz he looks like he's on an island all by himself. Too bad he can't confide with Peyton and Zimmer much like he did with Belichick and Grogh.

The Zone poll yielded the following results:
14+ wins: 1.3%
13 wins : 1.0%
12 wins : 5.9%
11 wins : 33.4%
10 wins : 36.3%
9 wins : 16.5%
8 wins : 3.1%
7 wins : 1.5%
6 wins : 0.5%
5- wins : 0.5%

So if we only win 8 games, we will have done worse than 94.4% of Zoners predicted at the start of the year.

If we only win 9 games, we will have done worse than 78.9% of Zoners predicted.

In other words, we will have performed far below the expectations of the board members unless we win our last 2 games.

The thing that is most shameful about is that most people who made these predictions expected a rocky start but thought the team would gel in the second half as a prelude to a SB run next year.
