Haha, they can't even field enough players to make all 32 teams legitimately competitive and now they want to add two games.

Get ready for two more weeks of absolute stink fests, likely at the end of the season.

A lot of this has to do with not having a rookie pay scale IMO. Teams are so afraid of the bust factor on the early 1st rounders and don't want to commit a lot of money. The draft was supposed to help teams that aren't as good but really it only hurts them.

What about teams that make it to the post-season on a regular basis as opposed to teams like the Rams and Lions. Are their players playing significantly less in terms of years because they're playing additional games each season?

Not sure what I think of this but I haven't seen one obvious question addressed: who would the two extra games be against? I'm assuming that every team will continue playing every other division team twice. I also assume that you'll continue playing every team in one division from the other conference and one division from your own conference. Will you now play two teams each from the other two divisions in your conference? Will the first and second place teams all play each other and likewise with the 3rds and 4ths? That would seem to make the most sense on first glance...

The fans will get some benefit from it because there will be 2 more games to watch. There will also be 2 more games to pay for, which means expect very big increases in season tickets

I thought season ticket holders had to pay full price for preseason tickets????

I can't believe they did this.

Our 1-2 start would be meaningless with an 18 game schedule. We actually have to have a sense of urgency after going 0-2.

With an 18 game schedule you could go 0-4 and still be ok.

What a terrible decision. Just like expansion, you reach a point of diminishing returns. The NFL is already there, and yet they keep going.

There are too many teams and not enough good players already. Expanding the season probably will mean expanding the rosters. So in other words, the owners' answer to the 2 additional games will be something like 6 additional roster spots. Perhaps 200 players who wouldn't have been good enough to make NFL rosters this year.

As someone else asked, have the players union signed off on this?? I mean we dont even know if there is going to be football next year as it is, so hey, lets throw another obstacle in the way.

Current CBA allows for up to 22 games, so the players already approved it.
