Here's the video on this for what it's worth...

I just don't see Jerry going after any WR over 30 now that he's sent Terrell Owens on his way.

And while I record DFW most of the time and use it on my blog the info isn't anything me or you could not come up with most of the time.

He says in here the Cowboys were trying to trade T.O.. No they weren't.

If they were it would have been a headline somewhere.

I would take Holt at the right price, but I don't think it's happening.

Speculated once he is released we would be willing to take him on for 2-3 years around $5 mil per.

Just the messenger...

be a hedging the bets move and not a dumb one IMO. Holt is a good dude, good WR and if he came cheap it would only make sense after the year Roy had last year, cutting TO, the year Crayton had, and Miles being mostly a tease but not anything more than ever a #3.
I like the idea.

As soon as Holt is released his agent will call Carolina. Holt played at NC State and has mentioned the last couple of years he wants to finish his career there.

I'm all for signing him if we can and I could care less what it costs. It's not my money and the salary cap is a joke.

FWIW, this guy Tinker, thinks Stephen is Jerry's brother. He had to be corrected by his guest, Cliff Harris.

This guy has no kind of information, he is only speculating.

I don't care either way whether he comes to Dallas, but he has mentioned that he wants to go home to Carolina and play with his brother.

I like it.

Money aside, this is similar to bringing in Terry Glen a few years ago. Experienced, great hands and route running.

I like Austin but if he is the future he needs to be able to beat out an aging vet like Holt.

No I'm pretty sure I passed it off as "speculation"

I wasn't calling you out. I was calling out the person who came up with this. Sorry for the lack of clarity.

why not? we got a rid of a trouble-maker and get a class-act, even if he doesn't produce as well as he used to at least we are pushing towards the correct path.

this team needs to regain their dignity from allowing classless acts like Pacman and TO roaming around (Tank didn't have many issues in his term in Dallas). Going the Holt option or Marvin option (besides his gun issue) will allow us to head in that direction. To me this is a no brainer.

This looks like purse speculation, like you or me saying "the Cowboys are going to go after Holt".

No official source from the team or from an analyst, just a couple of guys saying what they "hope will happen".

I think there is very little chance Holt signs with us.

I don't understand all the flack about Holt's abilities. I don't think people understand how good his really is. I do understand not wanting to bump people from the roster at the cost of bumping a younger player and costing enough cap space to keep us from bringing a more needed player on board.

I understand the thoughts on getting a high character guy who runs great routes and puts up way more than just solid numbers. He's a HOF type WR.

He's only 32 not 35+. He's one of two NFL playes in history to have multiple 1600+ yps. He's the fastest to 8000. He runs a 4.3-4.4 now with great leaping ability, great routes, great separation, and is known as a big play big game guy. He has averaged almost 90 ypg which is the highest in NFL history. He has averaged 1000+ yps 8 consequtive yrs until last yr.

He is going to get his 5M+/yr over 3 years with a decent signing bonus and some guaranteed money wherever he goes. That's his market.

He will teach Austin and others a great deal. There is no one else on the team even close to being like Holt except Austin who is still a wannabe even though most agree he's got potential. RW is just a different type WR than Holt. Holt would be 1A and RW 1B.

My only thoughts are cap space. I'd hate to be heavy in WRs at the expense of OL depth/growth or the like.

I say let's get him he is truly a class act and would help our young receivers a hole lot. I say get rid of Crayton he hasn't shown me that he is worth being a part of this team. If I can remember he dropped several passes during the game against the G-Men last year in the playoff's I just don't see that he is worth the money we are paying him so I'm all for getting tory holt plus Carolina has two great receivers so if he were to go there which one would Carolina get rid of I don't think Muhamed or Smith would be let go so if he went to Carolina he would be at least a #3 receiver so let's go get him and bring him in to teach Austin and Hurd

I wouldn't worry about the cap space. We're in pretty good shape. But that may be just me -- I've never bought into the argument that you shouldn't put too much money into one position. As long as you're under the cap, it's all good, as far as I'm concerned.

I like the idea of the Cowboys using their 3 RBs and becoming more ground oriented.

Still, it'd be nice to have an extra threat at WR. Holt could fill that bill.

I guess the Patriots oline sucked too because their's fared worse than ours did against that pass rush. I also do not thing that our line is incapable of run blocking. They never got a consistent dedication to run the ball pretty much ever.
And the Patriots have Tom Brady as their QB, whose mobility is nowhere near Romo's. Further, my argument was in the context that our OL allegedly fell apart because of Kosier being gone. It didn't perform going into the play-offs, and it collapsed in the second-half against the Giants. Even when they were running the ball in the first-half, Barber was bouncing his runs to the outside consistently, because nothing was there. Which brings me to your point regarding dedication to the running game? I don't think it is a problem for the OL either. That dedication as well as tempo has to come from the OC. They have a huge offensive line and Houck to coach the running game, but Garrett has them moving back all the time. He further doesn't help them with his constant attempts to have his WRs go deep. A short passing game to keep the pressure off Romo was non-existent. It isn't the loss of Kosier that caused our OL to totally collapse...

He got a one year deal and has Trent Edwards throwing to him....

Yeah, but he also has a Lee EVans complimenting him, and a running back named Lynch, with an OC that actually runs the ball. Teams simply doubled Evans in the passing game. His impact will be felt. Whether they make the play-offs, who knows? They got to contend with the Patriots and Tom Brady, and the AFC is always tight.

I could see it happening, cause of his hands and route running and such but I doubt it does.

However I don't think it has anything to do with TO being cut cause of age. TO wasn't cut cause of his age and I can't believe anyone would actually believe that was a factor.
