It's obviously the way we Practice. Chip Kelly and the Eagles don't get injuries like this and about every player that has left says we practice wrong...

Chip instituted some sort of new exercise program because they did last year.

This is just more bad news on top of bad news, an ongoing saga the past 3 years. But the first significant TC injury [not counting Lee] is DLaw, and he is out 8 to 10 weeks. not for the year....
So that is a positive. The negative, he misses valuable camp and game time to prepare for the regular season.
Another way to look at it. He was planned to be used as a situational pass rusher this year, not an every down player to replace Ware. If he was to transition into that role, that wasn't going to happen until next year. That's the way I took it anyway.

Still a loss, but a big loss, could be, onlt because it's so disappointing the injuries just won't stop.
Here is hoping all these DL we signed, comiing off injury can play until he returns.

The other issue is, now they will need to go long, maybe more than planned to keep enough DL, so where to they take from the roster for that. I really thought they keep 6 WR, but now, maybe not.

Yup. They really are snake bitten. Plus while we were busy adding 37 DT's in the offseason we decided to ignore DE aside from a jag (don't mean his team) like mincey and a bad knee like spencer Lawerence was about it.

he is not eligable for pup. you can't go on pup list once you practice. he should'nt miss more than 2 or 3 regular season games

That sucks. He was the main player I wanted to see play. Hopefully hes ready in October or November. Hate to see a rookie miss a whole season.

Dang.

So now the D-Line will be relying on 4 players coming off of injury when the season gets going. That's going to be fantastic.

Injuries happen in the NFL. I saw an interview with John Fox where he was explaining how the Broncos were limited by injuries in the Super Bowl and that getting those starters back would be a big boon for them.

Injuries happen in the NFL, that is why depth is of vital importance. The problem with the Cowboys is not necessarily injuries per se, but a paper thin roster that has no ability to deal with significant injuries.

Lawrence and Lee are perfect examples. Both of those players were acquired with second round "trade ups." It is well documented that Navarro Bowman was available with the third round pick that was traded to acquire Lee. How does that sound about now--a second round pick and Bowmann on this roster, instead of the injury prone Lee (who, as a PSU alumn, I absolutely love, by the way).

This team also sacrificed this years third rounder to acquire Lawrence (a player we just had to have, which, as it turns out, we won't have for at least a significant period of time). Look at who was available with our original second and the third we traded--a depressing exercise indeed.

The point is, this team continues to put its eggs all in one basket and then when those eggs breaks wonders why the team is stuck in mediocrity.

Its not a curse, its not bad luck, its poor planning that leads to a lack of depth.

I think at this point we have seen enough of Lawrence to know we have something in him(missing rookie TC is poor form aside) worth cultivating, poor luck yes, just buckle up and deal with it the season is long and dangerous(I still believe he will get plenty of seasoning to bring to training camp next year). He will contribute this year and is on the path for being well worth the trade. Latest I have heard in 8-10 weeks, he is young so hopefully he is on the low end of the timetable. He is in the house for three more seasons so we have time to reap the benefits from his talent.
As the call for the last couple of years goes out Next Man UP.....

You are correct. It relates to poor planning. Bad luck has nothing to do with this. If "talented depth" was there, this team could move on like the Seattle or the San Francisco teams.

People need to eliminate this bad luck discussion.

????

8-12 weeks

That's way more than 2-3 regular season games.

We're 5 weeks away from season kickoff. Just about 6 if you include when we actually play our first game.

If it's only 8 weeks to heal, that would bring him back by the third game. If it takes the entire 12 weeks, then it's more than 2-3. Depends on how surgery goes and how fast he can rehab.

I would expect to see Crawford and Selvie holding down the starting jobs and the battle for backup just got thinner

Yeah.

I don't think losing Lawrence is going to affect the defense vs. the run.

And even with Lawrence the pass rush was going to be uneven... but without him it's potentially downright bad.
