It's obviously the way we Practice. Chip Kelly and the Eagles don't get injuries like this and about every player that has left says we practice wrong...

who says we practice wrong? or is this just another internet rumor to validate your assersion?

He is a ROOKIE.....when is the last time a ROOKIE wrecked havoc as a pass rush specialist......Rookies are not franchise saviors.....Cowboys need Melton, Selvie, McLain and Mincy to produce.....the ROOKIE is 2-3 years away from a 10 sack plus year....

Not a Cowboy but JJ Watt?

His sophomore season was lights out I know.

how many rings has their practice won them?

Rings don't change anything in the past 5 years, as far as i know we have had lots of injured players in those 5 years...and don't have a ring either.

But hey, continue with your lame "do they have a ring??? omgzzzzzz" comments.

Except that it's not only those two.

The additions are
Melton
Mincy
Crawford
Lawrence (3/4 season vs 0 last year)
Spencer (1/2 season? vs almost 0 last year)
McClain vs 0 last year
Bass more than last year
Martez Wilson
Ben Gardner maybe

And, so far the secondary is healthy and I would be surprised if we have any games with two UDFA safeties playing at the same time.

Unless it totally unravels like last year, the D will be better.

How much is the question.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Repeat from other 13 page thread on this:

This is bad but I'm not sure we should be gnashing teeth over a guy who we hadn't seen and who many scouts said needed development in strength and who lacked some speed. If he was the key to not being worse D, then the team did themselves a disservice.

Nice sentiment, but I think this player is better than Jeremy Mincey, Martez Wilson or Kyle Wilbur as a nickel rusher right now.

So it is a loss.

It's a loss from a depth perspective but I can't make a judgement on talent since we never saw him play against NFL talent. As I said, his scouting report said he had some issues with strength, etc so I was just expressing that I can't freak out, especially with our evaluations over the last decade in rds 2-4. But it is a loss from youth/depth.

And a loss is a loss. Even without seeing the player against NFL talent, I feel safe in saying he is better than what is being pushed up as the replacements.

Infinitely better. Lawrence is a natural weak side edge rusher. The only guy on this roster who has that ability.

As bad as this is, my greatest fear last night was it was his achilles. At least we'll have him for around half the season. Trying to look on the bright side, here.

But he'll miss most of camp and all of the preseason.

This year's basically a wash for him.

I agree it's bad he'll miss all of camp and the preseason, but this kid is a gifted athlete. The Cowboys can use him as a situational pass rusher from mid-October on (assuming he's healthy by then) and he can still have a positive impact. From what I've heard about Lawrence so far is the kid is big on film study. He'll stay around the team and focus in on what's going on.

It's fortunate that Lawrence's job isn't the most complicated. It'd be great for him to get the TC and Preseason snaps, but he can still come in week 4 and contribute from then on.

DeMarcus Lawrence out 8-10 weeks
Updated: July 30, 2014, 5:06 PM ET
By Jean-Jacques Taylor | ESPNDallas.com

Matthew Emmons/USA TODAY SportsRookie defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence will miss 8-10 weeks after suffering a broken right foot during training camp.

OXNARD, Calif. -- Cowboys second-round pick DeMarcus Lawrence, a defensive end Dallas drafted to help their pass rush this year, will miss eight to 10 weeks with a broken right foot, sources said.

Lawrence was injured during a pass-rush drill against left tackle Tyron Smith on Tuesday afternoon. Lawrence tried a speed rush around the end, but Smith moved with him and drove the Lawrence into the ground. Lawrence's foot appeared to get caught under him awkwardly, and he uttered a profanity as the play ended.

He stayed on the ground for a few minutes before limping off the field with trainer Jim Maurer. He was then transported off the field on a cart.

He is flying back to Dallas on Wednesday to have surgery on Thursday, a source told ESPN.com's Todd Archer.

"It's tough," defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli said of the loss of Lawrence. "He's a heck of a young player. I thought he was coming along well and all those things, but that's ball. Just get him ready to go when he's healthy and the next man up. We've got some guys who can come in and still rush over there."

Its a long season, the Rookie needs to heal and watch game tape as much as possible.....he will be ok.... come back with fresh legs and a high motor for the December butt kicking that Philly will get...
