Ok since you seem to be very emotional because you are so pumped here is an explanation for you. I suggest you read it after you calmed down.

Phily @ Dallas : tie
GreenBay W - Arizona L
Minni W - Giants L

Final Standings:

Minni: 12-4-0 2nd Division Winner (Bye)
Phily: 11-4-1 3rd Division Winner
Arizona: 10-6 4th Division Winner
GreenBay: 11-5-0 5th best WildCard team
Dallas: 10-5-1 6th worst WildCard team

As you know the 3rd seed plays the worst wild Card team at home. That means Dallas @ Phily.

Now please explain to me were i am wrong. I know the chances for a tie are very small but there is no guarantee that there won't be the above scenario. So there is no guarantee that we won't play Phily in Phily in round 1.

man what a relief, I think all teams involved are happy with this scenario. I know for a fact Philly didn't want to see us any more than we wanted to see them in back to back weeks.

Is this the correct scenario if Minnesota wins? I haven't seen one with that just yet:

1. N.O
2. Minn
3. NFC EAST winner
4. Arizona
5. NFC Second place
6. Green Bay

What gets Green Bay in the 5 seed?

Either way all the stuff I've seen so far looks nice for the Cowboys, everything has fallen right into perfect place for the Cowboys to get to play good football and stay away from trouble just long enough to get to the NFCG. I really hope they come ready because it's being layed out like a highway right now. We've gotten some real good fortune as of late.

It's correct as far as the 1st and 2nd seed.

Green Bay needs for the 5th seed
a) a loss by Dallas or
b) they have to win their own last game AND need also a tie between Dallas an Phily.

If Dallas wins i think Philies owns the tie breaker over GreenBay and so Philly will own the 5th spot.

It's hard to imagine, but at least we'll know before our game (or very early in it) whether we've still got a shot at the 2 seed.
and what incentive did a crappy Chicago team have tonight?

I thought if Philly wins next week, they get the #2 seed, whereas if Dallas wins, they need Minnesota to lose as well in order to get the #2 seed, so it's not a lock that the NFC East champ gets the 2 or 3 seed, it depends...

Am I mistaken?

Best scenario? We go out and win the next 5 games. That's the best scenario.

I made a mistake regarding the 2nd seed. So here is the "right" version:

It's not correct as far as the 2nd seed. Just because Minni can't get the 2nd seed on their own. If Phily wins they will own the 2nd seed (as they already own it right now).

Green Bay needs for the 5th seed

If Dallas wins i think Philies owns the tie breaker over GreenBay and so Philly will own the 5th spot. But i am not 100% sure about that.

No you are right. I just made a new post with the correction.

His question was more Green Bay related so i didn't think alot about the other scenario. Green Bay has no chance to be a Division Champ the'll be a WildCard team for sure. So to determine which seed they'll get only depends on the other WildCard team. Makes the whole scenario a little easier. With that my results Green Bay needs don't change.

But anyway thanks for the hint.

According to what I see, Green Bay owns the tiebreaker over Philly and Dallas...

So the only way they lose the 5 seed is by losing to Arizona and Dallas beating Philly.

Go Cowboys. And hope Vikings and Cards lose.

Unofficial Cowboys Playoff Scenerios
By Todd Archer

I say unofficial because I did this on my own after Minnesota's loss to Chicago and I'm trying to cover my tracks in case I'm wrong when the NFL brings out its official scenarios today.

So here goes:

** The Cowboys will be the No. 2 seed if they beat Philadelphia, Minnesota loses and Arizona loses or ties.
** The Cowboys will be the No. 3 seed if Minnesota wins and Arizona loses and ties.
** The Cowboys will be the No. 4 seed if Minnesota wins and Arizona wins.
** The Cowboys will be the No. 6 seed if they lose.

The potential opponents:
** If Cowboys win, Minnesota loses, Arizona loses - Bye, No. 2 seed
** If Cowboys win, Minnesota wins, Arizona loses - would host Philadelphia
(Philly loses common opponent tiebreaker with Green Bay)
** If Cowboys win, Minnesota loses, Arizona wins - would host Green Bay
(Arizona gets bye, Cowboys would have conference record tiebreaker on Minnesota)
** If Cowboys win, Minnesota wins, Arizona wins - would host Green Bay
(Cowboys lose common opponent tiebreaker with Arizona)
** If Cowboys lose, Minnesota loses, Arizona loses - would play at Minnesota
(Minnesota is No. 3, Cowboys lose head to head tiebreaker with GB)
** If Cowboys lose, Minnesota wins, Arizona wins - would play at Minnesota
(Minnesota is No. 3, Cowboys lose head to head tiebreaker with GB)
** If Cowboys lose, Minnesota loses, Arizona wins - would play at Arizona
(Arizona has tiebreaker over Minnesota on conference record)
