Let's dig a little deeper, shall we. If you were watching the game closely, you would notice the Packers were keeping a TE or a RB in to help block Micah. And while he may not have gotten through all the traffic much, don't you think the Packers taking a guy out of the passing game to protect the QB hurts their offense and helps the defense? Of course when the secondary doesn't cover a WR 25 yards down field, it doesn't matter than a potential receiver does not run a route and stays in to block, but that is not Micah's fault. This is the problem with the Cowboys defense. Micah gets a ton of attention and no one else steps into pick him up. By taking Micah out of the game with double and triple teams offenses are exploiting the lack of talent everywhere else on the DL. Micah gets all the criticism, but what about the other 10 guys playing defense? What about the rest of the DL that never gets deeper into the backfield than the line of scrimmage? The Cowboys have ignore their interior line for years. Sure, signing Hankins was a good idea, but Hankins is not a pocket pusher. So the entire Cowboys defense relies on 1 guy, Micah Parsons, to get the QB off his mark.
The same it true in the running game, they put a guy in front of Micah to create a seem, but where were the LBs and safeties who are supposed to fill the holes? Micah does his job by keeping the RB inside and not letting him get outside? So where is everyone else?
I saw Mazi Smith get thrown around like a rag doll. Who is the idiot that told him to lose 40 lbs and play at a weight he is not used to playing at. The guys was a physical freak at 340 why not let him stay at 34 and use his size and athleticism?
When this defense plays like a unit complimenting each other, they will be a good defense. The way they played Sunday was like playing chess with each piece independent of every other piece.
