Pernell Mcphee rumor-10 million a year?

It's a rumor. Players or agents can want any amount. The reality is there is a limit to what teams will pay.

I like McPhee as a DE for the Cowboys, but he has been a career backup and has been miscast in a 3-4. I don't see a guy going from backup to 10M per.

Him and Brandon Graham getting 10m a year is unlikely

so what is a realistic number

Does he make us better? If so sign him.
If he does make us better and he's the best we can do - sign him.
Is anybody else out there better than him - sign them.

I'm not worried about the money - I'm worried about the window.

LOL me either it isn't mine.

Given the need at defensive end for so many teams, I can see the market being overinflated this year and lesser names like McPhee getting overpaid.

But if I'm overpaying, I'll overpay for proven production in Greg Hardy.

I think they should think about drafting ILB Denzel Perryman from my hometown the http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Miami_logo.gif

Here we go again. He WANTS 10 million a year, probably not going to get it. If the contract averages 10 million a year (doubtful) then most likely his cap hit based on a 7 year deal would be in the $5 to $6 million for 2015 and 2016 depending on the guarantee money. A 7 year deal for 70 million probably means around 35 million in guarantees (most likely less), say $25 million of that is bonus money and that would be prorated over 5 years and his salary the first two years probably $745,000 each year. Most of the salary would be tied up in the last 3 or 4 years of the contract.

So could we sign him, absolutely. Will we sign him, who really knows.

You don't pay guys other than Romo and Dez 10+mil per year. It's not smart. But I like the idea and the player. Just cheaper

Looking back, some previous free agent DL that got 10M or less and were much more accomplished that McPhee:

2014 DeMarcus Ware 3 years, 30M
future hall of famer

2014 Jason Hatcher 4 years, 27M
starter with 11 sacks in 2013

2013 Elvis Dumerville 5 years, 26M

I wish FA worked this way.he is going to get paid on what he can do going forward.
