I have missed most of the first five weeks of the season - first, a scuba diving trip to Indonesia and then a trip to Ireland and Scotland with my wife to make up for the dive trip. As a consequence, I have only have video highlights, games summaries and the comments on this board to base an opinion.

"Distance" often provides a different perspective on life... And, the Dallas Cowboys.

Heading into this season, my hope, my expectation was that the Cowboy's would recapture the magic of the 2016 - an efficient and effective offense backed by an improved defense.

To put it mildly, I am shocked with the offensive performance to date. I never expected Dak to turn into a passing machine, but I certainly much more (despite the re-load at WR and TE) than has been displayed so far.

From my perspective:

1. Dak is not the franchise QB many of us - myself included - thought him to be.
2. Unfortunately, we will never know his true potential with the current coaching staff.
3. Regardless the season won/loss record, this coaching staff needs to go. It is past time to try something new.
4. As much as I applauded Richard's arrival, it would be shortsighted to simply annoint him the new HC.
5. I do believe we have a reasonable (talent) foundation to build upon, but certainly need an infusion of talent at WR, TE, safety and, probably, DT.

Yeah, I know, nothing really new.

erin go bragh!

how dare you come in here with your smug tales of travel and adventure. some of us are stuck actually watching this trash.
Ha! I will say my blood pressure is a lot lower not seeing the games live. Maybe it is the scotch?

He's a 4th round pick trying to overcome a number team issues, including your perspective 2-5

Look, I have been a Dak apologist in the past, and it's getting harder and harder to defend him, but I don't know how you can make statement #1 when you also make statements 2 thru 5. We saw a completely different QB in 16 when the line was much better and we were better at WR/TE.
I still believe this team can win consistently with Dak. Will he ever be an all-pro world beater? Probably not, but he probably could be something more than a bus driver for this team.

Money making franchise.....but a dysfunctional team.
