Pet Cats

Who are your all-time pet cats(s)?
- I thought of this after seeing the 1000th thread lamentung not drafting Tyler Warren with the pick used to draft Tyler Booker.

- 1 in each category below:
- It can be a player that you wanted but that didn't get drafted by the Cowboys.

1: Draft related pet cat?
Mine: Tyler Smith
I posted predraft that he reminded of Larry Allen in terms of power.

2: Became a pet cat after joining the Cowboys?
Mine: Jermey Parnell.
- Would have been a Hall of Famer is Garrett didn't hold him back.
- The great OL coach Bill Callahan wanted to start him over Doug Free but Garrett refused. Allowed 1 sack in 9 starts for the 2014 season including 2 playoff games.
- Went to Jaxonville and they won a Super Bowl...
Jacksonville won a Super Bowl?

Man, I've been calling for Flournoy and noticing weird anomolies in his stats from the beginning. Got it right on him, but he's not a 1 or 2.

So, I'd say I was pounding the table for TJ Watt, and I wanted him not only off college tape, but because of the way his brother played — I mean sure shot pedigree available at the bottom of the 1st.

We drafted Taco, and I feel like it's because of the Mandela effected, and I ended up in some weird parallel reality where we actually drafted Taco Charlton instead...

I'm not big on pet cats. I think too many fans get caught up in them to the point that they can't judge them objectively, or get so hung-up the opposite way that they never give a player a chance. I prefer to wait and see what they do. Doesn't mean I don't have an opinion and don't share it, I just try not to jump to conclusions about any player.

My all time pet cat miss wasn’t a cowboy but someone who I was begging for prior to the 2020 draft. I was praying for them to make trades to move up and get him. I totally bought the hype of him being a position-less force.

Thank God I wasn’t in charge.

Draft report

One of the top overall prospects in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft, Isaiah Simmons is probably the most versatile defensive player in this class.

After starting as a safety at Clemson, Simmons went on to become a consensus All-American, the ACCDefensive Player of the Year, and Butkus Award winner at linebacker in 2019.

A freakish athlete, Simmons should be able to plug in right away for whichever team drafts him and have an immediate impact on the field.

You may recall that we drafted a guy named CeeDee Lamb that year at #17

Haha

Cowboys pet cat: I would say Maliek Collins, and I don't know why. I guess he was splashy enough to make me think he'd break out, and had enough bad reps that I always had to defend him. It was weird.

Draft per cat... the first name that pops to mind is Jack Campbell. 99% of the time, I either agree with the scouting reports, or can understand where they're coming from. We are all watching the same game tape after all, and looking at the same measurables. But Campbell was one dude where I thought I was taking crazy pills.

The book on him was "big throwback thumper, doesn't move well, second round." I could not disagree more. I saw a supreme, LVE level athlete (with no neck problems!) who played better competition than LVE and was more productive. LVE went #18 overall to the Cowboys, of course. Tremaine Edmunds went #16... Campbell was in that same ZIP code as a mega-sized freak LB, but was a cleaner prospect than either. Top 15 was justified.

At the time, I was higher on him than literally anyone I was aware of the Internet. Total cray-cray for Campbell.

The Lions picked him 18th overall, everyone screamed "reach", and now no one cares because he's playing like a stud. I've missed my share of evals, but one of my pound-the-shoe-on-the-table evals ended up being absolutely correct.

I prefer a clean house without the bringers of fecal material, musk, dripping genitals from bathroom breaks, or a being that eats its own vomit. So i'm not a cat or dog person myself.

Wait, wut:huh:

Is this supposed to be a satire post or something, because there are a lot of facts just wrong here.

In 2013, Parnell was expected to compete for the RT job with Free, but suffered a hamstring injury in preseason and thus became the backup as a result. In 2014, Parnell started 8 games at RT, including the playoffs, after Doug Free suffered a foot fracture. Parnell left as a free agent in 2015 to Jacksonville.

And when he went to Jacksonville, "they" never won a SB. Parnell does have a SB ring however as a member of the New Orleans Saints practice squad in 2009. He never played in a single game for the Saints, but the Saints went on to win the SB after the 2009 regular season.

At no point in time did anybody beg Garrett to start Parnell over Free. Parnell was given the chance to compete, but injuries always derailed that, as well as his NFL career. He left as a free agent for Jacksonville in 2015 and suffered another hamstring injury, then a knee injury in 2017, and yet another knee injury in 2018 that ended up being a career ended. He retired from the NFL after the 2018 regular season.

He had a solid NFL career from 2009-2018, was on the active roster of three teams (Dolphins, Cowboys, Jags) and was on the practice squad of another (Saints). He played in a total of 111 NFL games, starting 64, before injuries forced his retirement. Like I said, solid NFL career, but not anywhere close to being Hall of Fame.
