From his "Ten Things I Think". It is not much but I don't recall hearing that Williams was indeed so deprived:

I think the most amazing thing I've heard in the past month, and I've confirmed it with someone close to Roy Williams, is that the Dallas receiver was never on a consistent weightlifting program in his life before this off-season, when he got after it at Valley Ranch. "I'm serious,'' this acquaintance of Williams told me. "Roy never lifted before. Now that he has, and now that he's serious about making himself a great football player, especially with T.O. gone, I think he's really going to have a good year.''

we'll see if it translates. David Boston was awesome at weight training. I mean he took roids, but it never translated on the field. Okay...maybe thats a bad example... lol

TO deprived Roy of using weights.
TO kept him away from the weight room - "no weightlifting program for you - ONE Year"
TO was here so Roy couldnt make himself a great football player

Well. After readind that I am glad TO is gone. Dam him.

It doesn't surprise me.

When a team is as bad as the Lions you know they don't really care about their players.

Hes going to be in the best shape of his life this year. I can't wait.

Don't we hear things like this every year and then nothing happens. Tank Johnson was going to be a beast last year as I recall. Romo supposedly worked on some footwork flaws last offseason and was going to be much better. Neither happened. I hope RW11 does in fact have a renewed dedication to becoming an elite player but I put zero stock in reports like this until I see some results on the field.

Still trying to get my mind around the fact that they did not have weight training for WRs. I wonder who else did not have any?

Dude our guys develop and get better every season it seems like.

Sure there are some instances where things didn't pan out but for the most part our guys get better every year.

He produced when he was thrown to. How is that overrating him? He was a huge part in the "making" of Tony Romo

He was a self made man. He continues to defy age with work ethic. Roy relies on his athletic gifts and will always underacheive unless he spends the time in the weightroom.

I just would have rather someone with less talent who puts in the time. (Anquan Boldin)

Which by all indications he is doing.

I think the light has come on for Roy Williams. Especially when he see's how hard our team works during the offseason.

TO is awesome but don't dismiss what Roy Williams is capable of.

TO also dropped a lot of balls and disapeared in quite a few games, especially last year. He clearly is on the downslope and its better to let one go one year early then one year late.

I think many people just do not get what being on a losing team for a franchise that refused to change to get better does to someone after years being there. I think this offseason and the expectations put on him will really help Roy out.

I think he is capabale of alot. He is a truly gifted athlete. If he worked like TO, Andre Johnson and Fitz, he could be great. While he doesnt have Calvin Johnson or Randy speed, he could be a beast if put in the time.

I want to wear my #11 Jersey on friday's, but he has to show me something first. Until then, I'll stick with Witten.

throw the ball to plenty of other wrs as many times as owens was thrown to and they will produce too. word is Roy is spending plenty of time in the weightroom. Owens put in the time but only if the ball was perfectly thrown to him. if the play wasn't gonna make him look good he would give up(quiting on routes, not fighting for the ball)

Wow. He really hasn't lifted before? That is incredible.

Probably one reason he's had trouble losing that little bit of weight he wanted to is that he's actually putting on some muscle.

But the squatting and cleaning will make him more explosive and probably keep him from being so injury-prone. It will definitely make a difference.

This story can't be true.

If it somehow is, it's ironic that Peter King broke it while the Dallas media was looking with both hands for a story about Tony Romo's workout habits.
