Another part of the Aaron Hernandez discussion is that every team in the NFL knew that he had likely committed murder at Miami without being convicted of it - and the Patriots still drafted him. It wasn't some crazy party that got out of control where someone got shot, the Patriots knew exactly what they were getting into when they drafted Hernandez.

I actually think it would be a good football move to pick up Gallette. I'm much less concerned about off the field issues affecting play on the field the most, though. But whether rightful or not, the public perception is that we've picked up a lot of questionable guys recently, and it takes a toll from a PR perspective at some point. One more guy would break the camel's back, I think, and it would be a PR nightmare. Some times that kind of thing can just be an added nuisance that maybe isn't worth the benefit of the player.

I agree about Gallette specifically. Considering that he is injured and that it appears teammates don't like him, it does not seem worth it; however, if another guy like Hardy who had 1 issue but seems to have reasonable character, then I would stay open to the idea.

King was a great and informative writer, until he started doing the NFL on HBO years ago. It was at that point his fame became more important than his credibility as a journalist. Even other journalist take shots at the guy now.

take out the northeastern part and you are dead on. Biased, willfully ignorant and proud of it, dishonest and hypocritical describes those like King to a T. As you said if Hardy was a Pat then he would be a redemption story not a turd.

By the way I think like so many other terms turd is being thrown around way too easily. To me a turd is someone who is dishonest, nasty, and basically stinks. And that takes a lot more proof then a few accounts by mediots.
