Emmitt has just as much right to comment about this as anyone else. Bold men do not take the easy road and follow the crowd.
He sure does, but he also is now open to criticism for his stupid statements. Bold me do not take the easy road? What is bold about him minimizing Vick's attendance at dog fights?

Yes...I am sure that this is no big deal to ESPN either. I mean this is just the kind of insight they were looking for from Emmitt.

Emmitt's and others comments about this issue has made me realize how some people view dog fighting as no big deal. I know how naive I've been since this first came out. I just assumed thugs were involved in this from spectators to directly involved participants. I really had no idea how many people view this as no big deal. It's not hazing even. It's certainly not siphoning gas, throwing eggs, tipping cows, whatever. In other words it's not boys being boys. And I don't leave the girls out either. Just a figure of speech.

I cannot fathom what these people think when this is going on. How ridiculously naive of me.

You're right, it hurts ESPN. Still don't care, but you're right.

I also think it's sad that freedom of speech is so chilled. Don't say something stupid, or we will picket outside your office, cause advertisers to dump you and make you lose your job. Cause I know I've never said anything that was stupid.

Reality must have a heck of a time getting in and out of his drive way with the amount of stupid stuff we post daily on this forum.

That's because we're the world's leading producer in fake outrage.

3 Acts the clown on TV as a dancer (Ok, he did show some moves) but the NFL legends must have shook their heads
You mean like Jerry Rice ? You know, the guy who was on season one of Dancing with the Stars - the same guy often called the best player in the history of the game. Is HE shaking his head, too ?

What makes you think you know more about it than he does .... he is friends with Mike Vick and you are some anonymous guy on a forum .....

It amazes me that most on here think they know more about what is going on with NFL players than the NFL players do ...

I think the problem here is that most people find it unfathomable that Vick did not know what was going on at his Virginia home. If he is found "Not Guilty" of the charges being brought against him, it is pretty clear (at least in most peoples eyes I think) that he was involved in fighting dogs. That alone is reprehensable to most. The comments that Emmitt makes seem to indicate that he does not find this to be as such. It's not a popular view. It's even more dista****l coming from somebody as well respected as Emmitt.

I'm not talking about how it hurts ESPN, I am talking about how it hurts Emmitt. He will probably be on a short leash now and we've seen controversial statements...like what Limbaugh made...get people fired.

Maybe you have said something stupid, but it was not while you were being inducted in the the College Football HOF.

So Emmitt has the guts to say what he thinks instead of taking the political correct stance ......

How is it that Emmitt has guts? He says that he is the big fish in the investigation...wow, that is mindblowing. He also said he maybe he went to 20 dog fights...and did so matter of factly, like it was no big deal.

I guess the line between stupid and brave has been blurred.

Or........ how can Emmitt, a person so respected, be so calice to the fact that dog fighting is so reprehensable?

You see, that door swings both ways equally well.

It is only my opinion but, Emmitt would have been much better off saying nothing at all.

Its obvious that your heart is bleeding over the dogs that were involved with these fights ..... I am sorry what Emmitt said defending his friend hurt you so bad.

If Vick is guilty he should be fined and should be suspended for a few games for hurting the image of the league.

But I for one would never ruin someone's life and send them to prison over a dog. Sorry if thats unpopular.

Not even sure how to respond to this, but first off, what Emmitt said did not hurt me at all. I am actually kind of embarassed for him.
