Peter Woods

Woods is a stunning athlete - he's 315 and is probably fast enough to edge rush. A 4.7x 40 wouldn't shock me at all. He's also he's a very fluid mover who easily changes direction. I don't think he's as overwhelmingly powerful as he is overwhelmingly fast, but he still holds up against power like a 315 lb lineman should.

Plainly, he's got the potential to be unblockable. He's got the speed of a diesel-package DE and the strength of a nose tackle.

I just don't like his tape at all. The playstyles are different, but the bad parts of his game remind me of Mazi Smith. He plays high, he doesn't know where the ball is, and he ends up on the ground too often.

When those guys with no fundamentals bust, there's no floor to it. It's like Mazi and Trysten Hill. They don't become "okay starters" who "didn't live up to expectations", they end up in the XFL. Woods also had minimal production last season, which is another red flag. Successful college DL prospects always put up counting stats, unless they play for Kirby Smart.

Woods is a classic boom or bust player. I would compare him to Walter Nolan last year - I didn't like Nolan's college tape, but he went to the NFL and balled the hell out. I don't like Woods' tape either, but he's a Planet Theory guy, so you just draft him at some point in the top 20 and bet that I'm wrong.

We have 3 solid DTs right now. We have no LBs. We have one good CB (maybe). Safety? none DE? We have one. So, DT is at the end of the list. The 90's cowboys didn't have these holes all over the defense.

I would disagree if we had a 2nd and 3rd round draft pick.

Well, most of us aren't any better than the draft guides we read. Let's face it. Most us follow a few college teams and maybe catch 30-40 games a year not including the playoffs. We aren't reviewing game tape. We rely heavily on people who do this 24/7/365.
 
Yeah, Woods is an intriguing player.

I think we could make it work and have Osa play DE in a 34 alignment on certain downs. Plus, he can replace Osa next year too.

Seriously, I challenge anyone to come up with the game that Osa has dominated.

I hate to go there but Stephen is not going to draft Woods. Mr. Pie already is investing $60 million the defensive tackle position. Now I would move on from Clark, get that cap space, and move Woods right in with Qunnen.
 
Take Woods let Clark walk or maybe we could get a 3rd or 4th rounder by trading Clark? But then again we never seem to get good value when trading our guys. I can't depend on Jerry and Stephen in that department.

I would like to see us trade OSA but I think the dead money on his contract might make it prohibitive.

Trading Clark would seem to be a possible option, as I do not believe there would be any dead money to the Cowboys for that move. The problem is that Clark is probably a significantly better player than OSA.

The dead cap money on OSA is a mountain. He will be here. I doubt they bring back Clarke. I liked him, but it will be a numbers game.

Yeah I know Clark is better than OSA but since we just signed OSA last season the dead cap would be wild. So Clark would be the odd man out.

Osa and Clark are pretty much the same caliber player. Just different. Both will be here next year. Drafting Woods is a long game with Williams. Replaces both Clark and Odighizuwa in 2027, with us probably adding a 5T type DT somewhere
