Let me repeat my previous post about a straight face. Utterly ridiculous statement. Jerry got lucky on some big, risky, some downright stupid gambles….story of his life…but whiffed so badly on others he had to scramble and find people, anyone, 3/4 of the way through the season. So saying he was right about everything and folks here were wrong about everything is not a serious statement. Do you really think Jerry thought Maher would have the kind of year he has? Only taken him 20 years to figure out he still needed a run stuffing DT. Wonder what happens if he had figured that out six years ago….maybe Cam and the Rams don’t rush for 245, maybe the. Niners score one less TD. Jerry’s lucky Ceedee elevated the way he did. Some may have predicted it fine, but we were still left with such a wretched War corps after Gallup that we had to pry someone off their couch midseason….all really bc Jerry got mad at Amari and this created an unnecessary personnel gaping hole.
yes the Gregory thing worked out great for us…but just like Paxton Lynch…Jerry was more lucky than good. He tried to sign him to a big deal and lost at the last second.
Let’s not talk about the fact it took him 10 years and 3 wasted HOF careers to figure out what we all knew a few years in, the Jason Garrett sucked.
Yes I am glad he finally pulled his head out and got Hankins and Hilton. Gladly give him credit for that albeit six months late. But not going to pretend like Jerry is this super savvy GM who made every right move. That’d be ridiculous.
Please read away.

From after training camp starter until now we have brought in the following:
  • Turpin
  • Maher
  • Barr
  • Peters
  • Hankins,
  • TY Hilton
Those guys combine have made a huge impact at a remarkably cheap price and it’s done a fantastic job of papering over the cracks in the front offices off-season approach. Maybe that was all part of the master plan but as you’ve said, I don’t think the average fan was wrong with their original assessment.

Have you seen the brother move? He looks so slow if he gets his hands on you it’s usually over but speed rushers are problematic
A nick bosa eats him for lunch. Well I guess nick eats everyone for lunch scratch that
We literally have no choice with our injuries

Peters played 88% of snaps in the 21/22 regular season. He should be able to survive 5-6 games as a starter 1 year later.

Perhaps so. I mean when I was 55 I was playing full Court basketball with guys 20 years my junior and playing decent and then at 56 I wasn’t. And the demise was not injury related it was omf related

I realize it’s not the exact same thing but 1 never knows when it stops

yep, agree those have all be fabulous signings and cost effective but let’s be real, Jerry LUCKED into most of them vice having a plan. Turpin was an astute get for sure as was Barr, although I would’ve preferred Wagner despite the cost. I think they were in the process of botching the K situation completely and Maher fell from heaven. Peters, Hankins, and TY were fantastic but since the post I was responding to originally was comparing fans to Jerry, I had to call out that many on this board were screaming we needed players, some even naming those specific guys, before the season even started. just because Jerry came around eventually after watching some groups wilt, doesn’t win master plan points IMO. Many have been screaming for a DT like Hankins for a decade. But yeah long way of saying I think we agree

I mean we have to give credit where its due. This team made moves that people didn't like. They wanted them to bring back Randy Gregory.....terrible year. Wanted Von Miller......out for the year. They sat and waited for free agents and it worked. So we can call it luck but thats the NFL. Luck. Good GM'ing takes some luck.

Who are current OL backups? I am worried that we lost experienced starters, Steele, Tyler and not sure if we have enough qaulity depth to go deep in playoffs and don't see any posts of signing OL, so anyone has the OL depth chart?

I was not happy with practically giving Cooper away, and not going and getting a decent replacement at WR especially with Gallup a question mark going in to this season. They blew it as far as getting a run stuffing DT too. But I guess credit has to be given for Jerry's signing of Peters. He is going to have a lot more to do with our playoff success than I ever thought. I thought at the time it was a decent depth move, no big deal. Its turning out to be big.

I don't give credit to Jerry or Stephen. That's because they reactive when it comes to free agency and they tend to wait until they need that body to play that position. We all knew we needed a Tackle, wideout and a run stuffing dlinemen. They waited till the last minute. This is the reason that Suh is playing with the Eagles and that we finally got someone to plug the middle. Give them credit if you want. But Jerry and Stephen are lazy in doing their job and simply does nothing when its almost too late.
