On his list is the raiders? Can't wait to see his wonderlic score.

Of course he'll say the Raiders being they have the number one pick, it's all strategic talk. I know he really grew a Cowboys fan, who didn't...;) Seriously he'll be long gone by the time Dallas is on the clock and I doubt Jerry Jones will move up to draft him unless Wade Phillips practically cries wanting Peterson. I would trade Julius Jones, Marion Barber and a 1st for Adrian Peterson!

Not sure about the title of this thread...but it should actually be...Peterson wants to be close to home on teams who have low draft picks where he will be paid the big bucks in being a top 5- 10 selection!!

Cowboys wouldn't be one of them.

Peterson had his chance to be a Cowboy......and he went to OU instead.....IMO he should have gone to OSU when he bailed on UT. he could have followed in the footsteps of Thurman Thomas, Barry Sanders, Tatum Bell, and Vernand Morency.

I'd give up our 1st and 2nd, my left arm, Hostile's big toe, and Rack's manhood for Adrian Peterson..

You'd probably give up 10 million dollars, your left testicle, your mother, your car, and your soul for a bag of doritos too.

When he bailed on UT? Give me a break......He always wanted to go to Norman....Bonghorn fans just never wanted to admit it.

As for him being injury prone. His two major injuries were both flukes. A broken collarbone and a high ankle sprain. He does need to learn to not take so much punishment. ie don't initiate contact so much, but he is going to be fine in the NFL.

He is going to wow people this weekend at the combine when he runs sub 4.4

You are insane:laugh2:

Give up a 1st and 2nd rounder for a rb???? There's no way in hades we'll spend even a 1st or 2nd rounder on any RB...no way.

Jackson is a fast player with power, moves, durability, and great hands in the passing game, along with being a good blocker. There's no way AP can be compared to him.

Apparently so does Blalock, per PFW (via another forum):

Highlights from Texas OL Justin Blalock's press conference:

Measured in at 6-3 1/4, 320. Will do a full workout.
More comfortable at tackle, but supposes he'd better get used to guard.

A lot of teams are interested, "and I hope it continues," but this Texas native hopes he is drafted by the Dallas Cowboys.

Nothing good comes in burnt orange!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AD really stands for Always Down....as in oft injured....

he can't block, he can't catch out of the backfield, and he can't stay healthy.....he runs too high and he doesn't hold the ball properly

well now the folks in Norman Bates, OK will be losing their alleged stud RB.....I am glad we will not be in position to draft him.

I definitely don't want Blair Thomas......oops I mean Ki-jana Carter.....oops I mean Adrian Peterson.

BTW....some carrots are burnt orange. Also, some Cows come in burnt orange......so that makes 2......Tom Landry, Tommy Nobis, Earl Campbell, Roger Clemens, Vince Young, Priest Holmes.....

I don't want any part of Peterson....I don't think he's going to be special in the NFL.

If we'd drafted Steven Jackson when we should have, I wouldn't trade Jackson for Peterson under any circumstances.

Peterson will be a better pro than Jackson. He'll be a better pro than he was as a college players IMHO.

I am a fan of running backs in the Emmitt mold, and Peterson is taller and less durable ... soooo it shopuld say something if I am able to overcome those sticking points....

Why??

Peterson is strong and he is fast. He is tough enough to play injured or return early from injury. He can run up the middle, off guard, off tackle or outside.

He has the kind of play-making ability limited to generally much smaller players such as Reggie Bush without the size limitations. While Bush will get worse each day as a pro because he relies solely on gifts he can not maintain(speed and quickness) Peterson will be relying on getting stronger and his vision. Strength and Vision with explosion is what made almost all the top running backs so good.

He does not have to get the ball in open space but when he does get to open space he is terrific.

Jackson is NO WHERE near as fast as Peterson. Jackson is better as a pass receiving option but only teams who utilize that on a large scale such as the Rams considered him a top 20 pick.

Other than that they are similar players.

Peterson is a Heisman worthy athlete who was the OU offense for the large part of two seasons. He'll get less carries in the pros but already has a pro body and work ethic.

Laid back West Coasters are the ones who struggle not Texas kids:)

I wouldn't be surprised to see Peterson fall in the draft like Leeland McElroy did in 1996, all the way to the top of the second round.

He'd be a steal there but i wouldn't be surprised at all to see it happen.

--31 games played out of a possible 38. 747 rushes for 4045 yards 5.4 ypc and 41 TD's.

2004:
--Second in the Heisman balloting, best finish ever by a freshman ...
--totaled a nation-leading and NCAA freshman record 339 rushing attempts (third highest in OU history) ... No. 3 nationally with 1,925 rushing yards ... yards after contact were 1,365, 71% of his net ...
--tied NCAA freshman record for reaching 1,000 yards in the fewest games (7) with Emmitt Smith (Florida, 1987) and Marshall Faulk (San Diego State, 1991)
--had 44 rushes of 10 or more yards and eight of 35 yards or longer ...

2005:
--missed all or more than half of four games with ankle injury and still rushed for more yards than any other Big 12 RB .
--220 rushes for 1100 yards & 14 TD's

2006:
188 rushes for 1000 yards and 12 TD's

ran a team-best 4.37 in the 40 in the spring of 2006 ... also registered a vertical leap of 37 inches

His hands are fine...ask UAB & Oregon, he wasn't utilized as a reciever in the offense. First time anyone has said he was soft and couldn't block....not sure who you are watching.....

Yeah, we have so much better on the Cowboys that we could pass on Peterson....Bonghorn fans drop the pipe and get real......

He won't drop past 8 in this draft, but if he does...teams will gladly hand over pciks to move up and get him.

Once again...nothing good comes in burnt orange!!!!

Sigh....

Why are we even talking about AP when we don't have a shot of drafting him?

I like Lynch a little better anyway. He's not the runner AP is, but I think his overall game is more complete. There's a possibility that he falls to us (see K. Jones and S. Jackson), but considering we have more urgent holes to fill, I don't think he's the best value w/ our first pick.

The 2 backs I am eyeing are Leonard and Booker.

If Leonard runs a lackluster 40 and drops to the 3rd, I think we should be all over this kid. I doubt he'll ever be a superstar, but he'll add a lot of versatility to any offense.

Lorenzo Booker, I have no idea where he'd go. I see him contributing a lot as a returner and eventually as a RB. He's a bit light now, but give him a year or two to add some weight and I think he can contribute.
