Pets Cats..2015 Draft

O-diggy-zawa, Quinten Rollins, Shaq Thompson, Derron Smith, Buck Allen, and Hayes Pullard to just name a few.

This draft is not as top heavy as 2014 but it is just as deep.

Love Fresno State my school, but Derron regressed. Was actually pretty bad this yr. USC made him look slow and he stayed slow.

Dont believe everything put out. He strained it and was supposedly fine before the season. After the USC game he supposedly aggrivated it. He's just not as good as the int's would show. His INTs have come from bad QBs on bad teams. Phillip Thomas was the same way, but when they both played against top tier teams they have been bad. Dont just look at numbers and think a player is good. I graduated from fresno state and i would love to say he's everything his number show but he's not even close. Prewitt would be alot better option by far. And he plays in a defense with the style Marinelli wants. Prewitt plays that single high

Pet Cats of mine:

1. Markus Golden DE Missouri - Round 1-2
-I really like this kid. He doesn't get enough credit imo. He's a 6'3 260 lb old-school style DE. Relentless motor and energy; Never gives up on the play and plays violently. Better as a run-stopping DE at this point but his relentlessness as a pass-rusher allows him to get sacks here and there. Finished top 5 in SEC in both sacks (8.5) and tackles for loss (16). Just a good ol' hard-nosed football player. Doesn't have elite size or athleticism, which is why he's a fringe-1st rounder right now, but he's a complete football player who's more ready to be an every-down player in the NFL than his higher-ranked teammate, Shane Ray, who's expected to go Top 10.

I like him a lot more than Ray. And Gregory as well if you are looking for a "fit". Hopefully he stays as a fringe first round player.

2. Nate Orchard DE Utah - Round 1
-Just a good, solid overall football player who isn't spectacular at anything, but is good at everything. Can get after the QB (led the nation in sacks this year), but holds his own against the run. Started his career as a WR and it shows with his great bend and maneuverability.

A lot of people like him, he is not overly impressive to me. Can take or leave him.

Jordan Phillips
DT Oklahoma
-6'6 334 lb. monster of a DT. Not a finished product by any means, but seems like the type of toy Marinelli would love to get his hands on. His name seems to be rising right now, so wouldn't be surprised if he ends going mid-1st come draft time. Did have back surgery in 2013 so that's a major question, although most experts assume it won't affect his draft stock. (Personally, I wouldn't take him our 1st. Too many ?'s. But I could see us being interested).

Looks a bit like Leon Lett with the body type. People have him in their top tens amazingly enough, I think there will be enough to draft him down by the time April rolls around.

The big problem we have at 27 is getting a quality player. While we need a rusher badly, I do not see many that will be available that would be much about Demarcus Lawrence-quality for us to nab in the first.

Which is why I like sticking to a BPA strategy. If an OL, RB or WR is at the top of the board, he's my pick. Now, if a WR and a DE are 1-2 and it's close, I'll take the DE, but I think putting impactful players on the roster is more important than filling a need with lesser talent.

Most of the time that is why BPA is the way to go. Take the higher rated player, always. Better to get the 2nd or 3rd ranked player at one position over the 6th or 7th ranked at a need position just to scratch the itch unless that position is unusually deep. Most of the time that is not the case.

Defense - Denzel Perryman
Offense - Jamison Crowder

I live in ACC country, so I see them play more than other players from other conferences.

I agree completely. I'd rather have the highest rated RB or S than to take the 7th rated DE simply because Dallas really needs pass rush.

The good thing is that the team has been drafting that way for a while now.

Perryman measured at 5 10,I hope that will drop him to our 2 and rd pick.

Looks like I need to let go of my dream of landing Danny Shelton at the 27th pick.

The guys at the Senior Bowl (Mayock, Davis, etc.) were all acting like he's a top 10 lock.

Malcolm Brown it is.

You like Golden? Really? I am just not that impressed with him.

I know you weren't overly impressed with Kony Ealy last year (who turned out pretty decent by the way...dig!). Would you rank Golden ahead of Ealy? Because I just don't see it.

You can add Phillip Dorsett to my list. That kid has some wheels and knows how to use it. He could be a TY Hilton type weapon in the NFL.

Legacy draft selection.

I love Beastly but it would be nice to add some speed to this team ... on both sides of the ball.

Add Xavier Cooper to my list... Perfect 3 tech. He should be rated a lot higher

Quintin Rollins-CB
Tevin Coleman-RB
Bryce Petty-QB (I think he would be a great replacement for Romo)
Bud Dupree-DE
Shane Ray-DE (pipe dream I know)

The speed will have to come at the expense of Harris. That means whatever WR we might look at would have to be able to return kicks and punts.
