its not run blocking that concerns me with this group. Its pass blocking and they are not top 10 in that category. maybe they will turn to glory this season but Im not holding my breath
That’s the weird thing it sounds great to say they are top 10 but if you aren’t top 10 in a passing league in pass protection not sure if it’s the accolade people think it is.

This ranking is too high even if they are all 100% healthy. If Steele even starts week #1 he wont be 100%. Tyron could go down at anytime. Once he does this Oline drops down to average. We have seen this happen the last 5 or 6 years once he goes down.

Then we go from Tyron to Chuma or whatever other scrub we have. Then the musical chairs start and the continuity falls apart. Not to mention this starting 5 will have no continuity going into the season as they probably wont see more than a few snaps in preseason together if at all.

If Steele cant start week 1 and Tyron goes down in TC again we could be looking at this Oline to start the season.

Walenzko, Martin, Biadasz, Chuma, Tyler

That has a shot to be one of the worst in the NFL. God help us if Martin ever gets banged up.
I agree but think the writer is using the five projected starters for his ranking of each team.

Straight line to the start...at present, the top 3 teams projected to make the playoff road, are San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Dallas. NFC

Above, the line for the 49's doesn't receive credit now. Important? I'm curious.
Then Philadelphia, I'm feeling good about the Cowboys defense being able to handle them

I thought they did it based on pff grades?
They probably do but I was telling Roy he ( the writer ) apparently ranked each OLine assuming they will play the projected starters listed. Roy disagreed with the ranking ( #6 ) coz we may not get a healthy Steele back right away and of course Tyron's injury.

I don’t think LT Mailata is a Pro Bowler.
Pro Bowl is largely meaningless at this point with so many guys opting out. But technically, he was a pro bowl alternate last year. But it seems like half the league is a pro bowl alternate given how many players don't feel like playing in the game. LOL.

I'll say it over and over. Dallas was near the leaders in sack% last year and when Pollard was running, the run blocking looked just fine.

Its not the super elite group that they had back in the FredBeard days but there are a lot of teams that would trade their O line for Dallas'

I think the thing is there are probably 4 or 5 dominant lines……then you have about 15 or more teams with average or below average lines. Maybe some above. You can win in this league with average offensive play. But when the playoffs come around you better win in the trenches. That’s what happened to Philly. Best offensive and defensive line in the league and the SB comes and they get dominated by a Chiefs offense line that they shouldn’t have been dominated by.

I pretty much agree with this, i think our line (like many other lines) struggled against the best Dlines because we dont change anything to overcome that strength...I'm hoping this changes this year... you dont need 5 1st round draft picks on the Oline for an offense to work.

Cowboys haven’t shown they can draft linemen outside of drafting in the first round. That’s a big issue there.

I would agree but i do think MM is showing that later round picks can get better.. it was a long road with JG either the player was good already or they wasted away..we now see players getting better thats a good sign.

I don't think you have to throw it out all together. It just means better than average as opposed to elite.

For example if you are the 4th best C and only got in because 2 people opted out there are still only ~16 C in the NFC.

The Lions are one to watch out for. Decker and Ragnow are absolute rocks of vets, and Sewell is hitting the year 3-4 zone where young linemen usually arrive. He's already good, but his next gear could be 2010s Tyron good.

I don’t consider alternates to be Pro Bowlers. If you’re a replacement for the guy who actually was voted in, you don’t count.

I don’t think so either but they have the reputation of not being good I guess because of the tackle spot they keep trying to replace. But I agree. I didn’t think they’d dominate the Eagles though.

Philly had a penalty issues is the playoffs. I think Chris Jones is the best DT not named Donald heck he could have surpassed him now. The OL is is probably top 3. They struggled against Tamap in SB a few years back but since they got healthy they are good. They may score better statistically because of Mahomes and play callers.
