SPECIAL TEAMS
K: Chase McLaughlin....(2nd Tm: Jake Elliott) really?
P: Brady Pinion....(2nd Tm: Bryan Anger, COWBOYS)
KR/PR: Kevonte Turpin, COWBOYS....(2nd Tm: Smith-Marsette)
LS: Ross Matisck...(2nd Tm: Fabroni)
ST: Matthew Adams...(JT Gray)
how is Aubrey not on here as first team? he missed 5 FGs. longest being 57.
One could argue for Elliott he missed 2. same as Aubrey. he missed 2 PATs, where Aubrey missed 3.

Aubrey would/should at least be 2nd team.

Are these selections purely a result of their PFF grades?

PFF is for the stat "fact" fans.

And that is what you get as a result.

It was like this before Collinsworth bought it.
run by a bunch of nerds who are all about stats and their perceived importance and they claim to watch everything but you notice how quickly they have their weekly results? They would need to employ HUNDREDS of former players and coaches and of course they do not

Where was that even part of the discussion?

Kickers are so good now, misses are a rarity. The differences in the top guys are splitting hairs. But the fact is, along with XPs, Aubrey missed more than the other 2 guys. Shouldn't be too hard to understand.
OK, cool. Who do you trust to kick a 50+ yard FG to win a game?
  • The only guy that made double digit 50+ yard FGs this year, and not missing a single one
  • Or guys who attempted way less XPs than Aubrey (49 of 52), but with more "success" (McClaughlin 32 of 32) (Elliot 45 of 46)
I mean, you seem to think XP are more important than FGs, and by all means, you do you.

I on the other hand will stick with the guy who had the better overall FG percentage (94.7 vs 93.8 vs 93.2) despite attempting MORE long FGs (50+ 10 vs 8 vs 8).

Again, if you want to put THAT much emphasis on XPs, feel free, that is your right. I just COMPLETELY disagree. I hope that isn't too hard for you to understand.

Kickers also have to kick off. Aubrey was far better at kick offs than the two guys PFF chose.

ESPN also their All-pro selections (1st and 2nd team)
ESPN 2023 All-Pro

They were very close to this

Cowboys selections were
  • Cee Dee Lamb
  • Zach Martin (update, thanks jossephuss)
  • Micah Parsons
  • DaRon Bland
  • Brandon Aubrey

but they did this on Jan1...so before Aubrey's bad day

If anyone is curious, the QBs were Jackson and Purdy
