And that there is why you try to leave Tyler at guard… domination!
All while Chuma is getting busted up by the best pass rusher on their team every week and ruining our plays? No thanks.

Tyler can be a great LT as well. Guards are much easier to find. Heck just put Bass at guard and call it a day.

Hankins does what he is supposed to go. He clogs up the middle most of the time. He is much more effective than the PFF grade gives him credit for.

Martin is obviously not 100%. But I thought he had a pretty good game until late when he came out.

Can't blame Cooks for his low grade. They don't use him correctly.

Steele had to face one of the best pass rushers in the league in Judon. He did what he had to do.

Not sure why Pollard was so low. He only got 11 carries and averaged 4.3 yards. He also had 3 receptions. They took him out fairly early in the game as well.
Nothing great about a 4.3 ypc average.

I wondered the same but my guess is that Tyler is playing at an elite level at guard and they don't want to move him.
They have him at guard because they expected Tyron to be back soon. Of course its not turning out to be soon as always.

Juanyeh Thomas was playing well before being replaced by Wilson who looks tentative as hell.He doesnt look like the same player as last year,i would replace him with Thomas for the 49ers game.

LOL...Roy is upset because the team is doing the opposite of what he said was best.

Interesting that both 1T graded so low.
I could be way off but I think the set up of PFF is going to naturally penalize a 1T. Reason being that its a -2 to +2 scale in increments of .5. For a 1T the odds of getting a +2 on a play are slim as those are typically the highlight reel plays. A player holding their ground is typically a 0 which is what a 1T is going to do more often than not. I think PFF is pretty good for what they do for most positions it seems like true 1T DTs and DBs they could fine tune the scoring for though.

Stupid is more like it. The 1tech's job is to stalemate his man and eat blocks. It's actually not something you can easily discern watching on TV. And make no mistake, PFF grades come from people watching it on TV. They don't wait until the all-22 comes available because they're trying to "scoop" everybody and maintain the illusion that they are providing something of value. It's a genius display of marketing.. I understand even some NFL teams are subscribing to their services.. but don't be fooled. Their grades are SWAGs by people like you and me staying up late watching the games on TV and trying to figure out who did what from the TV copy. Which simply isn't possible given that there are many plays on which the TV copy doesn't even show ever player. But I digress.

Good comment.
Perhaps a 1T gets a 0.5 or 1.0 if he commands a double-team, and a 2.0 if a teammate makes a no-gain tackle \ TFL , because he is unblocked due to the 1T being double-teamed.

Agreed. IMO if a 1T commands a double team and doesn’t let a guy get to the backer that’s a positive play even if they lose a yard a ground. Maybe they do grade it that way, I really don’t know. Seems like the majority of highly graded DTs are 3Ts or at least hybrid guys who play multiple techniques.

I have no issues leaving Tyler at guard IF you find a better LT than he is.

Problem is, even based off his rookie year, there are not many players better at LT than he is. And that was with virtually no prep to play the position.

Not saying you can't find a better LT, but it would be easier to find an "as good" LG than a "better" LT.

I don't take much stock in any grading system they can't fully explain. Sometimes their grades matchup close to what we think we see but not this case at all.

He gave up 6 sack and had 13 penalties last season. Cross had the same numbers and there were grumbles of him being a bust. Just because he didn’t completely **** the bed as according to the peanut gallery here when picked doesn’t mean he’s a top end LT. Truth is, he’s a middling to slightly above LT. He’s an excellent top end guard. Now it’s deciding where he has more value. Call it the Larry Allen conundrum!
