PFF, the last resort for people with zero ability to review game footage and understand what actually happens.
PFF hires people with zero experience to "grade" game footage.
I've posted examples of job listings by PFF in the past that show they do not require ANY experience.
I've also posted a resume from a guy that worked for PFF "grading film" that shows his prior experience was as paint salesman for Sherwin Williams.
There are 32 teams and 16 games in non bye weeks.
There are about 70 snaps on offense and 70 on defense on average per game.
There are 22 players on the field for each snap.
That means that on average there are 22 x 140 x 16 player-snaps not including special teams each week.
PFF releases their "grades" within 24 hours.
If they spend 5 minutes per player per snap on the evaluation, then that's 4107 man hours to "grade" film.
That's with only 1 person grading each player snap.
Any system that could produce quality results would have multiple graders per player-snap.
It is basically impossible for PFF to accurately "grade" all player snaps every week.
PFF does have the ability to produce stats like how many passes by a QB were right, middle, left.
- Almost anybody could review game footage and make that determination.
