PFF O Line Performance

If you watch game tape then you would agree connor williams is not a good player and the PFF grade corresponds with that assessment

PFF grades aren't perfect, but they generally correlate well. They do this for money a zillion times a week, and they assuredly have some team quality control built into their process, which is more than we can say for our own reviews.

I don't expect anyone to take them as the final word of truth, just as I don't expect them to take coaching decisions as the final word of truth. I certainly don't. But dismissing either as *no* information is silly talk.

I'm not a huge fan of PFF stats in general but is there really anyone that doesn't see our OL hasn't been great this year? Luckily Smith seems like he is getting healthier (until his next issue) so that obviously should help. Maybe I'm the only one, but I for one have been very happy with how Knight has played so far. I'm not trying to say he is as good as Smith or Collins, but he has held his own so far.

Too much investment in the o line to be ranked this low. Seeing cleveland ranked so high makes me not feel so good about sunday.

10/34 pressures = 29 % on a 5 man oline for the rookie UDFA. Not that much worse than the 20% we'd expect if all players were the same. It's a little worse than that because he didn't play the second half of the last game.

PFF Grades:
74.2 Martin
63.1 Knight
62.5 Looney
62.3 Smith
55.0 Williams
53.8 Biadasz
50.1 Steele

The general ranks match the general perception.

Maybe Biadasz's score is lower than the perception, but even taken as is, that close to Williams w/o 2 years of NFL starting experience, and w/o starting snaps in camp bespeaks to much greater upside, and soon.

Steele is the worst and should be voted off the starting oline instead of Knight with Tyron playing isn't news to anyone here. Let's hope it's not news to the coaching staff. This is a *big* chance for Philbin to disappoint.

Mark Stepnoski was not a big man, but he knew how leverage works. You don't always need a big old knucklehead at center. Maybe it's you that does not know how leverage works?
he was 6'2" which helps guys inside. But he played 30 years ago. at 270lbs he would barely play d1 today lol.

This I agree with. How knight is not getting the starting nod over steele is boggling my mind.

Tyron on the field, Steele off the field should be a big upgrade to the oline.

Any word on whether Knight or Steele is starting at RT? Weird that Steele got it over Knight in the first game. It would be very disappointing to see Philbin do that again.

Supposedly they are doing it again

Ugh!

That will be a black mark for Philbin on up. Knight is better and it's not close. Only makes sense if they're playing Knight over Williams at LG.

Knight is our 4th best lineman right now. And he's only on his second year and a few starts. Upside.

Over this WHOLE team is too many dudes who have gotten paid already not on the field for one reason or another, or aren't producing.

I think part of it is the cancer culture in Dallas.

I really don't know if McCarthy is the answer to change that.

It's really like get a payday then mail it in.

Looks like 21 got more pride than that and I'm proud. I dont who else.

I agree, too much investment for our current return. You can judge any team missing both starting tackles, and having just lost their all pro center, and they will prob be failing.

The players are who they are, ergo the coaches must rise to the occasion. Especially on the defensive side.
