NFL offensive line rankings: All 32 team's units entering 2018

At PFF, we’ve put out our NFL preseason offensive line rankings for a handful of years now and they are never controversial and everyone always nods in agreement while reading. That won’t change this year as I’ve once again been put in charge of assembling the indisputable order of all 32 offensive lines in the NFL for the upcoming season. Using a combination of grades, college evaluations and age projections, we’ve come to the following starting-five rankings.

A year ago, the Philadelphia Eagles earned the top spot heading into preseason, and after fueling a Super Bowl victory, they’ve once again placed themselves firmly atop our list. From there, we’ve seen some shuffling as three new lines have broken into the top 10.

Without further ado, here are the definitive offensive line rankings for the 2018 season:

They have a bizarre love affair with the Eagles OL.

And despite their preseason ranking of #1 last year and then a SB run, their OL wasn't the best OL in football last year.

The Eagles line was terrific last year. It's a huge reason why they ran the ball successfully and they didn't miss a beat when Wentz went out.

I'll agree to disagree. They were especially great during that Super Bowl win. And that was with a journeyman, backup left tackle. To me, they're the best until someone proves otherwise.

It's a tough pill to swallow, especially considering what we've invested in our line vs theirs.

And if we have any hopes of overtaking the Eagles, our line and their performance has to overtake theirs.

I want to agree with you so badly, but the truth is they were the best.

No one said they weren't a good OL last year. But they weren't the best.

I trust Football Outsiders way more than PFF. PFF, at its core, is subjective takes on how an OL player played based on the grades given (and not by the same people). Football Outsiders crunches actual data and reaches their conclusion.

Big V played pretty well in place of Peters, but he is not a journeyman. He was in the same draft as Wentz/Dak...5th round selection. Sometimes they work out.

That’s interesting. I never looked up the actual definition so I’ve always took it to mean a guy that has traveled from team to team (never really finding a true home). In which case it would be too early to describe Big V that way.

Goes back to when it was a rank or classification of skilled worker. Apprentice > Journeyman > Master Craftsman.

Actually, it is used the way you describe particularly in British soccer. It's also used that way by broadcasters in American football which is why that is believed to be the definition in these circles.
