Very few did. TMC lies. Alot. One of the topics of the time was how did Rush achieve such a record? Either AC or TMC suggested the team played better for Rush.

If the cowboys had rested starters sooner and Flournoy took the bulk of Pickens snaps the last 3 games of the year would we consider him a lesser player because the counting stats would be lower? No chance.

The counting stats matter, but it’s a fraction of the story.

I'm honestly not trying to move the goal posts at all....I'm simply trying to figure out what your actual argument is since you cherry pick one piece of like 8 examples i've thrown out there over the last few posts. I've thrown out several examples of players like Garrett Wilson, Tee Higgins, Lamb, London, Metcalf, etc. hoping to get some sort of answer from you to advance the conversation.

Honestly I though the most recent season was an impotant factor in what your argument about the counting stats was, no? If not then why isnt Pickens in the top 10 conversation after his 2023 season racking up 1200 yards while catching passes from the likes of Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph?

The analytics actually show Lamb haveing an uper hand in several cateogries....Higher Y/RR (slightly), higher ADOT, etc. Pickens takes other categories like drop %, yac/catch, etc. Overall they were very similar value players in 2025, despite the difference in counting stats....which is kind of my point.

Is it because "COUNTING STATS" is how they're generally ranked???

And they don't really handicap the numbers based on circumstances???

The only exceptions are guys who have already established themselves as ELITE based on "counting stats" in previous seasons, like Justin Jefferson or CeeDee Lamb.

Why aren't any of these top 10 WRs guys who have never cracked 1,000 yards???? Surely there are WRs out there who are very productive on a per-play or per-target basis who simply haven't ever had the # of opportunities to put up big "COUNTING STATS"! My first post said Pickens is UNIVERSALLY regarded as a top 10 WR. That isn't true of London.

His counting stats simply weren't impressive enough.

Weird how those who are paid to know this sport inside and out seem to think "counting stats" matter a hell of a lot more than you do.

Say, how come every single WR in that coach/scout/exex top 10 list has had monster "counting stats" seasons???? Where are the efficiency darlings who have never cracked 1,200 in their careers????

Pickens was an afterthought in Pittsburgh. One thousand yard season in his first 3 years.

And now after a year in Dallas, he's universally regarded as a top 10 WR in the league.

Pickens always had the talent- thats why when we traded for him everyone immediately was excited and all the Steeler fans were upset...they knew how good he was.

His diva antics are completely overblown and are probably amplified because Mike Tomlin coached football like it was 1995....same with all the boomers commenting on football stuff. Anytime a player wants the ball it's "he's toxic, a primadonna." It's a different world now
