I'm scared to death in any big city. I went to watch the Cowboys this year, and was nervous every minute in town. The stadium was great...and it was well worth it.

I've grown up in small towns my whole life. I feel claustrophobic in cities...they're just so cramped.

We're going to St. Louis next week so my wife can watch her beloved Cardinals. I'll be nervous about going there too.

st louis is a neat neat town just stay on the left side of the river

While Jevon may be a giant Tool, and was certainly acting like one that night, to say he deserves to be robbed is just stoopid.

While I have no doubts that the Bronx would be a scary place to live, I am pretty sure that the Cotton Bowl area would still scare either one of us big guy.

Thats a poor part of town thats for sure, but man great food down there. One of the older parts of dallas too. I used to do work in that area 5 days a week, its not nearly as scary as it looks. I am actually getting kinda hungry thinking about it.

I am sure it isnt near as bad on a normal basis as it was that day... However, the Cotton Bowl activities seemed to really bring out the worst of the worst as I saw several fights, bottles thrown at cars as they passed by, etc. It was really quite scary.

Ya things do get crazy around the cotton bowl game. It gets pretty rowdy.
I gotta buddy with a condo right by the fair grounds and we woudl just sit on his balcony and watch it all go down. Maybe I am just used to it. Or maybe you're the one I was throwing bottles at(totally kidding).

Funny, I'm not nervous in any part of Houston or pretty much any major city.

The only city that caused me *concern* was N.O. I wasn't staying in a nice part of it and it was really grimy.

If you dont get freaked out in N.O you wont get freaked out ANYWHERE

I don't really get scared in big cities but maybe that's because I grew up in Cally where I couldn't wear blue or red to school because I would most likely get shot at for wearing it. Every time my parents bought me new shoes I would have to walk home barefoot because I would get them jacked by older kids and adults.

I really liked those BK's too :(

If you're wandering around downtown in a major urban area in the wee small hours of the morning, wearing a hundred grand worth of bling and with three grand worth of cash in your pocket, you're begging to be robbed...

"Deserved" might be too strong a word, but that moron made himself a mark, he made himself a victim... especially since he does that, wears all that bling, for one reason and one reason only-- to attract female attention...

I'd think that merely being an NFL player would be enough to attract female attention in that environment... bet if I was in that situation, I could fare well with the ladies without wearing ANY jewelry, and I wouldn't have anywhere near that kind of cash on me...

You're just determined to miss the real point, aren't you??

The real point is that only a card-carrying IDIOT goes to those kinds of places wearing 100 grand in jewelry, and with 3 grand in cash in his pocket...

If you do such things, lowlife individuals are liable to take notice, and start thinking of ways to relieve you of all your goodies...

If he wasn't flashing all the bling, and the big wad of cash, the odds are he doesn't get robbed... IOW, as a result of his own stupidity, he set himself up to get robbed...

I'm pretty sure that's what the original poster meant when he said that Javon "deserved" to get robbed, and on that level, he's completely right...

It's a remarkably insecure individual who has to wear that much jewelry in the first place... it's a plea for attention, a rather juvenile plea actually, and it got Walker some attention he would rather not have had...

I didn't miss any point. I responded to a stupid comment, and that's exactly what it was. Stupid. Whether or not the guy was being careless, flashy, or just downright dumb....no one "deserves to be robbed". He may deserve to be sent numerous dry cleaning bills after hosing people down with champagne, but that's about the extent of it. "Asking for it" and "deserving it" are miles apart here, and it shouldn't be this confusing.

I take the train (Metro North) to Yankee Stadium a lot. Coming from CT I get off in Harlem at 125th street and walk 4 blocks to the subway and catch the #4 train to 161st in the Bronx.

In 20 years (knock on wood) never had a problem at all doing this. I'm mean in Harlem and the Bronx, they/we are all just Yankees fans.

Been through there a few times after Yankee games at anywhere from 1:00 to 3:00 in the morning, where a friends' Dad lives. Even had a couple of beers with a bum (he asked for a dollar, but unlike JWalker, I only carry one card with no "bling"). Maybe I had one too many beers to notice.

Honestly, I was more worried in downtown DC. NY is just nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

But, you should try Corpus Christi! Hanging around on Padre Island at 3:00 in the morning, scary! :)

My wife lived there her entire childhood without ever having a single fight, then again her dad was nypd.

In any tough area you just have to have common sense and of course it helps not to stick out.

I grew up in a downtrodden area(Pleasant Grove section of Dallas) and it cracked me up going to college and seeing how tough everyone wanted to be.
