Will McClay: Taco Charlton better fit for Cowboys than T.J. Watt

There hasn't been a practice held or a snap taken and already Dallas Cowboys' rookie pass rusher Taco Charlton has been labeled a draft bust by some.
Selected 28th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, many had him graded much lower and saw the team taking the more popular -- and then still-available -- T.J. Watt out of Wisconsin. It was not to be, however, as Assistant Director of Player Personnel and Senior Director of College and Pro Scouting Will McClay saw it all differently than most when it came to lining the two young talents up side-by-side.
In the end, he says Charlton can step in right now at the defensive end position and be one of the more potent ones in the league.
No idea why people claim Will McClay is some genius. I guess it's more that he is better than the Jones family (which a monkey throwing poo at a board is better than they are). But he has a ton of head scratching draft picks that hold us back from building a very good nucleus. Namely after the 1st round. Back to back years, we drafted Jaylon Smith and Taco with very high picks. Both terrible. Picking Kelvin Joseph over Asante Samuel Jr. Conner Williams in the 2nd round 2018. LVE in the 1st.
Does he hit on picks? Sure. But every franchise does. He doesn't hit enough to build a great team. Or utilize the free agency.
