On Sunday in Dallas, the Seahawks were permitted to take consecutive time outs while the Cowboys were in field goal formation late in the second quarter. It’s something that isn’t supposed to happen, and NFL V.P. of officiating Dean Blandino acknowledged the mistake in his weekly officiating video. The Seahawks called one time out to…http://youwillnotrackme2.net/b.gif?host=profootballtalk.nbcsports.com&blog=&post=2360661&subd=nbcprofootballtalk&ref=&feed=1

At least he didn't make up something to justify what happened. He admitted it was an error unlike the Dez call last year. We have to give him that.

Still feel we were screwed.
Guess they will just change the wording to back track as usual to make it a legal call.

This is the kind of thing officials should be punished for
Officials are going to mis calls but when they blow the rules that they should know inside and out, that's what the nfl has to crack down on. There is no excuse for an official not knowing that a team had just called a timeout

If they refs inadvertently grant the TO it should be an unsportsmanlike penalty. Even the refs can get fooled. The natural reaction to seeing the TO signal is to blow the play dead.

Exactly, how is it not a penalty to try and fool the officials into changing the outcome of the game?

I swear, it gets more WWE every day.

"Then, as the Cowboys were preparing to line up for the field goal, the Seahawks realized that they had too many men on the field, and they called for a time out as players were trying to get to the sideline..."

"After consultation, it was determined that the Seahawks did not have 12 men in the formation because the snap of the ball was not imminent."

This explanation sounds good, but it isn't accurate. The Cowboys were ready to snap the ball to kick the FG when the ref called timeout. The 12th Seattle player was still on the field at that time. It's all right there on the screen if you go back and watch it.
