That's if he doesn't get run out of town for screwing up his XP.....he may break his record for most missed in one freaking game.If he wins the job for the Broncos there's a good chance that Justin Tucker's 66 yard field goal record will fall. Maher has plenty of leg, the 63 yard boot he kicked here against the eagles would have been good from 66, factor in Mile high and is chances are good to put his name in the record book.
Doesn't take much to break a kicker, it seemsThat's if he doesn't get run out of town for screwing up his XP.....he may break his record for most missed in one freaking game.
Interesting to see if it is still in his head....kickers are funny.
Maher is a high risk signing.
I think even the reference to “the yips” misses the real point. A procedural change the league made in season directly affected Maher’s performance.I believe the Cowboys are making a huge mistake having gotten rid of Maher. Yes, he got the yips during the playoffs, but that is something mental that should and could be fixed during the offseason/summer. Does your kicking coach want to "coach up" your kicker...or does he want to get paid to do nothing but call plays? It will be hard to find another kicker with the experience and leg Maher has.
Releasing Maher because you fail to "coach up" and fix his mental issue reminds me of the major screw up the Cowboys coaches recently did with Connor Williams by playing him repeatedly at the wrong position, only to cut him and see him picked up immediately by another team while "coached up" at a new position which Connor Williams ended the season ranked as the 3rd best Center in the NFL for 2022. I see the lack of proper coaching more as a problem in Dallas.
Just an in season rules change.Doesn't take much to break a kicker, it seems
I’ve never seen the league change rules in season either. The worst part is everything might be going perfectly when he poops his pants, and it stains something awful. His timing couldn't have been worse. I've never seen anything like it.
Agreed. At the very least, for competition. They probably feel like they can't trust him when it matters though, and I get that.Maher was money for us all year. He got the yips but they were all on extra points I believe, is that a true statement? We definitely should have had him back imo.
If he had the exact season for Denver that he had for us last year, even with the end of year extra point issues, he'd still be a step up from the guy they had last year. He aged out and his performance was awful.Maher is a high risk signing.

I agree. It may sound silly to some but this effected his approach and routine he practiced with all year and offseason. I have to imagine it's like a golfer being told they have to use a different set of clubs mid round....Yeah it's still the same game you're playing but every motion in your swing feels odd and you start overthinking.I think even the reference to “the yips” misses the real point. A procedural change the league made in season directly affected Maher’s performance.
And anyone willing to take an objective look at his 2022 numbers will see that they were in fact far better than any of the name replacements being talked about.
Completely ridiculous.Yeah that was absolutel garbage and I'd love to hear his take on it. I'm also not sure how grass from the actual field can he considered a prop. Suspect...
