I agree. It may sound silly to some but this effected his approach and routine he practiced with all year and offseason. I have to imagine it's like a golfer being told they have to use a different set of clubs mid round....Yeah it's still the same game you're playing but every motion in your swing feels odd and you start overthinking.
And I don’t even care if the league wanted to change their enforcement of the rules. But you make changes in the OFFSEASON, not DURING IT!

.....missing 4 extra points in a row, make that almost five including SF. Thats about as scary as it gets.

Good luck in Den.

I think even the reference to “the yips” misses the real point. A procedural change the league made in season directly affected Maher’s performance.

And anyone willing to take an objective look at his 2022 numbers will see that they were in fact far better than any of the name replacements being talked about.
I missed that, what rule changed?

Agreed. Unless it's a clear safety issue it's pretty unreasonable to change or rule or even enforce an existing rule differently right before the playoffs start.
It’s amazing to me that a special teams coach in the league since 2005 had never heard of such a ‘rule’.

Their efforts to take the foot out of football have gotten ridiculous.

Thanks and that does sound like a very weird rule?? Marking where the ball is going to be spotted? I can see if they were spotting it on a tee or something to give it more lift...But why have a rule about marking a spot?
They’re being ridiculous. And causing themselves problems unnecessarily.

There’s something we aren’t seeing in Maher. I would move on because I felt last year was a fluke. But the Cowboys wanting to move on from him tells me something is off. They don’t seem to like him.

bottom line is sean payton is ready to sign him, so guess all the yips stuff some of you go on and on about dont bother payton?
I think payton will sign him, he also signed dinucci, who the cowboys did not want back.
Payton sees players differently than the jones boys and MM.

both are smart signings imo.

or the jones boys are just stupid, and superstitious?
As a rule fans and some coaches feel the kickers are only as good as their last kick or last couple of games.

They dont do that with any other player though, why is that??

If lamb dropped 4 td passes in the same game would he be cut , or dumped in the off season>? no, other players
are not judged the same as kickers.
And if a kicker is really solid like robbie gould, no one wants to pay him what he is worth lol.
Kickers get no respect.

That’s not how they operate though. They’ve shown that when it comes to signing players or getting rid of them they listen to their scouts and coaches. Listening to Bones he seems to not care for Maher either.

Where did he say that? I’ve seen quotes saying the opposite?
