News: PFT: Cooper Rush will start final preseason game for Cowboys

I hope we don't end up keeping 3 QBs, personally if Dak wasn't a go for an extended time I would give Rivers a call and plug him in..

yeh Rivers can be to Dak Prescott, what Bernie Kosar was to Troy Aikman .......

This is MM doing Rush a solid is all. This tells me that Gilbert is the back up and Rush is going to be waived along with Ben D but he will be placed on the PS while Rush will be looking for a new team to join. This is giving Rush a chance to be seen by the rest of the league. Good move by MM, IMO>

Things can change very quickly in the NFL. This guy was odds on to drift out of the league last month.

I was a Cooper Rush advocate back when we first got him. I thought he could overcome his arm with his football IQ and become an adequate backup. I'm not so sure of that now. There are just times that some throws are too big for him, so it limits what you can do as an offense.

Yep....looks like Gilbert will be looking for his 9th team in the last 8 years. And DaNooch will be lucky if they put him on the PS. All eyes now on Rush. He will probably remain on the 53 team for now by process of elimination, but Dallas desperate for vet backup. Will have to wait for the last cutdown date or see if they can swing a trade.

My guess is they will ride Rush unless Dak misses extensive time ( 2 or more games ). That's when I think they'd do a trade a better upgrade.

I agree but he can buy you a couple of quarters, maybe 1 game but that's it.

Don't know if he can, but I guess we're going to be in position to find out if something happens to Dak. Although I still think we'll pick up a veteran when final cuts are made.

Cowboys, and some fans, still trying to talk themselves into believing there's a serviceable back up QB on the roster. There isn't.

They decided that they wanted to do the Money Ball approach again, and with the lone position that is just too critical to gamble and dangle around as such.

:banghead:

Well in fairness they kind of DIDN'T last year with Dalton and for the most part he was terrible. So I can understand why in some ways.

Big Mike is so scared to have Dak play, he may have Cooper Rush start at the Bucs game too.

He needs to be scared....for heavens sake... COVID is hitting the players right before the start of the season.....I would bubble wrap DAK until its game time....

Worst arm we have. Well he at least knows the offense. Truly wonder he can throw the ball over 30 yards. Is what it is.

Learning opportunity? All we can do is hope.

All GG probably had to do in that start was show he was competent. That happened, then he didn't get back from center fast enough and got stepped on. He was clueless. Terrible showing in what should have been an easy to capture 2nd QB position on this particular team. He deserved to lose it especially with how Rush looked with much worse players.

The game is over two weeks away. No worries!

Seems reasonable. He has a good grasp of the offense and plays within himself from what I’m seeing. Good enough to hold the line as long as his line holds. Also I assume he’s cheap.

Maybe Jerry could sweet talk Drew Brees to come spend a year coaching Dak while being back up.

No, he was never going to play in the last game as most of the starters--most importantly, the offensive line--will not start.

If he was going to get any PS reps, the Houston game was his last chance.

What is up with the Dak obsession? These guys just won't quit.

If you have to ask that question then you have been in orbit around Pluto the past 3 decades or so.

No, it is the consistency of ineptitude, no matter who comes or goes. Everyone is afraid to tell the Emperor he's naked.
