Really not sure where you got that from, but that is completely wrong. For this case to be considered "criminal", a federal or state government would have be prosecuting it. It would also mean that Elliott was at risk of a criminal judgement, which he is not.The Injunction was a civil action but now that the actual domestic violence case is going before the court and is considered a crime against the community and the (State), it is therefore considered a criminal matter.
There is no double jeopardy in "conduct detrimental to the league" rulings by the NFL. "Double Jeopardy" is a legal term used in criminal prosecutions.
Do "I" support them (NFL) doing this? Heck no! I think they should cut their losses and run from all of this as fast as possible. This sets a dangerous precedent. The NFL put the exposed breast incident to rest in the suspension ruling. Do you support them resurrecting a past incident to suspend a player? So now they can suspend any player at any time based on some past incident on the rhap sheet, for which there was no punishment the first time around.
Could a settlement happen in the Elliott case?
That’s not to say Elliott would take the literal middle ground of a three-game suspension. But how about a one- or two-game suspension for pulling down the woman’s top at the St. Patrick’s Day parade? While the league didn’t discipline him for that, the incident was mentioned in the letter informing Elliott of his six-game suspension. Also, there’s no way anyone can dispute that it happened, since it’s on video.
...
Right or wrong, the league concluded that Elliott committed domestic violence. Reducing the suspension without an admission from Elliott that he committed domestic violence would create a potential P.R. problem for the league, creating the impression that it was too soft on domestic abuse. If, in turn, the league admits that it botched the investigation and disciplinary process, that won’t be good for business, either.
So even if Elliott were willing to accept a suspension for something other than domestic abuse, the league may have no good way out of the corner into which it has painted itself. Which means that the league’s only choice may be to wait in that corner for a lifeline from an appeals court.

The only thing that worries me is the Playoffs.........I asked an NFL agent and he said that Zeke COULD be suspended for the Playoffs
I have seen many different answers but nothing definitive to this......I couldn't find it int he CBA
I do know that RGregory was suspended last year in the Playoffs and Suh was set to miss our game before Goodell/Mara intervened
Do "I" support them (NFL) doing this? Heck no! I think they should cut their losses and run from all of this as fast as possible.
I'd accept a complete removal of his 6 game suspension, admission from the league they were wrong on the case and in calling Zeke a women beater. Then I would accept a 1-2 game suspension for #tittygate.i would accept a 50k fine for pulling the top down since it was on video.
Nothing more than that....but even that...how fo they know that this wasnt their relationship?
Yeah I wrote it a few weeks agoThat sounds familiar ..
The league needs to get out of the suspension process.Could a settlement happen in the Elliott case?

Pulling someone's top up is assault if it is unwelcomed but it is not DV. The league would have a difficult time trying to turn that into DV. Since she didn't complain they have nothing but conduct detrimental to the league and that's a stretch as well just not nearly as much.
The league needs to find a way out of this mess by withdrawing and threatening to address it later. Enough time goes by and people will forget it and it goes away by itself albeit not completely.
Maybe a few weeks ago but not now. What they did to Zeke is a lot worse than him pulling a girl's top down who didn't care.. The NFL should suspend Goodell for a year for being detrimental to the league.I'd accept a complete removal of his 6 game suspension, admission from the league they were wrong on the case and in calling Zeke a women beater. Then I would accept a 1-2 game suspension for #tittygate.
I want to hear after Ray Rice, Greg Hardy, Adrian Peterson, all that.. what all went into deciding 1-game for Josh Brown.I personally want to see Goodell have to take the stand...I want him embarrassed,,,I want him and Friel fired.
