But thats besides the point. Qbs, rbs, and tight ends have also been franchised. How are WRs more "special" than qbs that they "never" take franchise tags ( which they actually do).

I'll disagree. Dwayne bowe was an elite receiver an so was jackson. Regardless my point is why are wide receivers so important that they cant play for the franchise tag like other positions like qbs.Jackson signed shortly after being tagged. Never played under the tag. Bowe was never an elite WR. Jackson had no leverage after both being suspended and returning from a 10 game holdout. Welker was in his 30s working on a third contract.
None of these situations are relevant.
