Cowboys OL Chaz Green left with cramps, not an injury

Green limped off the field with a trainer Tuesday, according to several DFW media outlets, but only to get an IV, according to a Cowboys source. Green returned to practice last week after rehabbing a shoulder injury, playing 27 snaps in Saturday’s preseason game against the Colts.

“I think the biggest thing for Chaz is he hasn’t been able to play on a consistent basis,” Garrett said Tuesday morning, “and that’s been part of his history so far in his career. When he’s played, he’s played well. And he’s healthy now and we’re going to give him plenty of chances to be our left guard, plenty of chances to show what he can do at tackle. I think the biggest thing for him is just somehow, someway being durable enough to come out day after day after day, week after week after week, because he gets better and better with every opportunity that he gets.”

It is hard for me to think of many players that have displayed his special brand of history with injuries, nicks, maladies and conditions to ever right themselves and become reliable.

That is all that matters. If it is cramps today, it will be something else tomorrow.

And it is not luck.

If the player is not reliable, they are useless.

I don't care how well they played when they actually did get on the field.

Bob Sanders. Made plays all the time and was injured all the time. The one time the Colts won the SB was the one time Sanders was healthy at the end of the season. Coincidence I think not.

The thing is that Green is not worth the gamble of making him a starter. Because when he inevitably gets injured you have to shuffle people and that is NOT of the good.

Green is the son of that one friend that just happens to always get hurt at your house. You know the kid is a walking bomb but of course its it's your fault the little turd keeps getting hurt. They need to toughen that kid up I say.

All joking aside about the guy's injury history, this is good news.

Chaz Green has made an impact like Bob Sanders did when he was on the field?

Tell me more.

You put up with this on-going nonsense for playmakers and Sanders was one.

You said it here.

"He is not worth the gamble of making him a starter".

So what is the design here?

Hope he can stay healthy enough if Tyron Smith's back acts up for a few weeks?

Green's unreliability has affected three positions on the line.

Right tackle, left guard and swing tackle.

So how long do you hold onto the dream?

You'd think they'd have a way to get him fluids on the field rather than making him walk back to the locker room.

It's been 2 years dude. Figure it out. We keep hearing he does well but it needs to show up on Sundays.

Cramps? So what. It's just a matter time til a hang nail, or runny nose, or something else he should play through, nets him two months off.

You would think after a couple of years in the league that he could learn how to take care of himself, like stay hydrated.

I'd seriously rather pick a less talented guy up on roster cut down day and show Green the door. Why put any faith or reliance on a guy who seems to FIND things to sit out for? Scariest part is that he hasn't even been paid a decent NFL salary yet

Frankly I would cut him next year. Unless he somehow stays available for the whole season.

I think this is a case where the boys so called brain trust cannot really make a decision. They really like his ability; he can play multiple positions very well. That kind of versatility is VERY rare.

But his injury history...

So they dither.

Personally I'm over this guy. I get he has talent but it's pretty worthless when he can't even make it a handful of games without injury. He's expendable imo.
