good now we know to tag his *** let him sit and work in some journeymen backups /potential starters and design the offense around the run game as it should be anyway.. they got pass happy abandon run game that led in first half yards to help Dak get paid it failed 8-8

I prefer they get a glimpse at another QB who if Dak signed can be quality backup but can start with a team that proves a strong run game and a good defense and improved STs..

Dak won’t miss any time. This is all posturing. Silliness really. He’s not about to miss time as the leader and with a new HC and offense to install.
zeke did it, why wouldn't he? tank withheld surgery and now with a new staff and a scheme change, hes suddenly has some leverage because hes missing learning time in the new offense..

You can't seriously believe this statement, that was for drama right?
It deepends on what the team could do to replace him, but replacing him would be difficult. Some fans act like a team just has to decide to go get a top QB and it automatically happens, but it really isn't that easy.

So anybody here still gonna call him a "Team Guy"? Hes just like the rest; all about the Benjamins..........if he doesn't show up. Could just be posturing

C'mon man.......there's not a fan out there wouldn't try and get everything he/she believes they are. If they tell you anything different, they're lying and I'll tell them that to their face (LOL)

I do not care one bit what he does or doesnt do in the offseason. Make no mistake, they will tag him and if he wants to sit out and then have to watch his image take a massive hit, let him do so. He better start looking long term. Aikman and Romo both make big bucks post career. Let Dak look bad and watch his endorsement money start to dry up

Dak will show up and he will play. If he doesn't, one of the backups will come out and show that any half-competent QB can win games in this offense and then Dak loses all leverage at anything long-term. That's why, if you noticed, Dak never comes out of games regardless of how injured he might be or how much we are winning/losing. Doesn't want anyone else to show they might be similar or even better.

It's the same thing we should've done with Zeke. Hopefully Jerry realizes the mistake.
Yep... too risky for Dak. Stick any competent mid-round QB who can hand off to Zeke and throw to wide open receivers and no one will even remember who Dak is in a few weeks. Remember, even 3 time MVP, first ballot HOFer Brett Favre was petrified about letting another QB take his snaps... hence the amazing streak.

I'd like nothing better than to think you're right and hope you are. The FO caved when push came to shove with Zeke, so maybe this is a sign that the rest of the team is taking a clue from that happenstance. In any case, here's hoping this thing gets settled admirably for all concerned.

Additionally, I wouldn't be too surprised if the team decided to draft a QB to deliver a message -- just in case. Not saying it's a lock or anything of the sort but it's a possibility. Resorting to drastic measures oftentimes calls for a response. ;)

Couldnt be more dead serious. Common sense. IF Dak were to go down who is going to come in and lead this team?

But werent you one of the guys who claimed that Cooper Rush was better than Dak? Doh!!!! :lmao2::lmao2:

Dak Prescott reportedly turned down $30 million per year offer, wants $40 million annually. - per cbssports.com

Here is the link:

"Reportedly"?????? That was leaked by FO to turn fans against him. It's no secret fans favor management over players ALMOST 100% of the time during nego ( this I've read heard from at least couple former GMs). Dak is clearly on record saying he DOES NOT expect Wilson's money unless he wins a Super Bowl.

I've seen this kind of argument before, but realistically, how many teams have a backup QB that is actually very close to the starter in talent? Fans act like that's how it works with other teams, but it really doesn't. That's not to say that a lot of teams don't have a backup that is better than Rush, but it's rare for them to have a backup they would feel good about stepping in as the full time starter. There aren't even enough QBs at that level to cover the starting position for all 32 teams, much less both the starter and backup for all 32 teams.

Close to the starter in talent? You must be talking to another poster.

And away we go................

Dak will follow the Elliott model. Threaten to hold out, Jerry will panic and cave and we will sign Dak to the largest QB contract in NFL history.

It's a 100% certainty.

Give him the non exclusive tag and then use the extra money to get an experienced back up. I agree with those saying the position is too important to hand to Cooper Rush. If you can, draft Tua.

This negotiation can seriously screw over Dallas but at the same time, Dak's agent needs to think. Dak makes millions simply because he is the QB of the Cowboys and beyond that, there isn't much of a market for QB's. Dak putting the screws to Dallas is a lose-lose scenario.

I also agree with those bringing up Zeke. The fact that Jerry caved so easily hurt his ability to negotiate with others . . . badly.

Isn't that what you meant by the problem with the negotiations is that the Cowboys don't have anyone of consequence behind Dak, so the team will fail if they don't sign the guy being negotiated with? If not, then your point wouldn't make sense because having a backup that represents a significant drop in talent from the starter wouldn't be a player of consequence, or a player that can help the team play at a high level if the team didn't re-sign the starter.

We knew this was coming .

Dak is worth 28-30 million , and is asking for 40 million . He will hold out, he saw what Zeke did .
Dak has never said he was seeking 40 mil
He has said he didn’t think he deserved Wilson money because Wilson has a ring
Tannehill, Winston and guys like that are gonna get much more than people think
Dak is gonna get near 35
